  • It's Now Trading At $50, So Is There Any Oxygen Left In O? [View article]
Appreciate your article. A high compliment is that so many need and want to reread it. (I am one.) A thorough analysis and a starting point from which I will practice my own "due diligence." Thank-you!

  • The Problem Of The Strong Dollar: Investment Implications [View article]
Not to detract from the main points of your article, which I found informative and interesting, but "The main military leader in China is clearly Colonel Saunders" gave me a good chuckle. That Kentucky Fried Chicken is popular in China is an interesting phenomenon.

  • Decrease Your Investment Risk Using Natural Hedging [View article]
I already had COP, came in at a low point and doubled my position right after the split, so I have both PSX and a larger position in COP. I had MRO and now have MPC; I am long MPC, which has a larger dividend than MRO, whose price has essentially flatlined in the last 4-5 years. Thinking of selling it...or at least utilizing the sell in May seasonal strategy (Thank-you.); I have BP, XOM, WMB and its spinoff WPX. I really like WPX but might sell it as it produces no dividend; I would take a loss if I sold it now, however...Presently over 10% of my portfolio is in oil and energy stocks. I am being watchful and on the alert in terms of allocation, weighting, strategy. Planning to sell off some MRO and add to COP, esp. now and in the next 6 months when oil prices are historically lower.

Technical analysis of a stock is good, necessary, and advantageous, but sometimes I think there is over-analysis and an almost obsessive. focus on technicals,The numbers are all important and absolutely crucial in taking the temperature of a company, so to speak, but there are elements that are not quite as tangible that also determine the success of a company. Attitude, creativity, vision, character, are a few.

TOTALLY and COMPLETELY agree with you. I could not believe the negative response after the earnings report - totally incomprehensible.

I didn't anticipate Aapl to take a dive like this, but I am not giving up ship. It's disappointing and somewhat painful, but I am in it for the long run.

  • The Dividend Advantage Over Gold [View article]
If and when the dollar tanks, or perhaps I should say as the dollar continues to decine, gold is an alternate, universally accepted currency. (This is old news.) I'd rather (I think.) use gold than the Chinese remnibi or yuan, if forced to choose. As an investment, no, I don't buy it or ascribe to buying it, but I have a few coins and an ingot I bought some time ago, which I have kept.

  • Which S&P Sectors Perform Best In 'Sell In May' Strategies? [View article]
3M, as an industrial stock, and per your article, is prime for the sell in May strategy. However, I inherited MMM in 2009 and the price has appreciated quite a bit since then. I am hesitant to employ the sell in May strategy for fear of the capital gains taxes I will have to pay. Any thoughts?
