Thank-you for your advice. I fired my advisor a year ago because I prefer to manage my portfolio myself. For the most part I mange fine, but I guess every now and then I need to remind myself to step back from it. Thanks again.

Oh, hell, I am tired of the stress of the stock market. I am resolved to not look at or think of the stock

So perhaps AFL has a plan in place - to mitigate the effects of a weakening yen? They have to have thought of this possiblity. Perhaps the company will tiptoe into and increase its 10% exposure in/to a weakening Europe.
I guess all we can do is keep a watchful eye on what happens with the yen and AFL in the coming months. Long AFL....

What's your rationale for investing heavily in transportation? I own
a small amount of Norfolk Southern. I read some about JB Hunt, and I like that. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Apple (AAPL -2.5%) has dived over the last 30 minutes of trading on heavy volume, without any news to explain the move. The decline comes with the NASDAQ still up 0.5% on the day. [View news story]
I am long Aapl, and by that I mean 20 years+ - TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!. I am passing it on to my kids when I leave this world. It is a sound and prolific company with yet a lot of potential.. Amidst the price fluctuations, I find it to be an exciting company to own. It's my right and prerogative to feel that way, and I will hold onto Aapl.unless something major happens within the company that changes things dramatically and irrevocably for the worse..

  • Sell In May? Maybe A Little, But Rotate [View article]
It is confusing to come on here and read multiple opinions. Who is right? Or is the question, "Who is right the majority of the time?" The uncertainty is perplexing and stressful So many come on here writing with certitude and conviction, how can each opinion be right? Aren't results from a technical analysis irrefutable?

  • Market recap: What spring swoon? Earlier shaky economic reports were tossed aside as investors cheered a jobs report that easily beat expectations, pushing the S&P to a 1600-plus close for the first time and the Dow briefly to 15,000. Cyclical industrial and materials sector paced gainers. Nymex crude rose 1.7% as prospects for energy demand enjoyed a jolt. Treasury prices slid; the dollar gained 1% vs. the yen. [View news story]
Higher taxes on the middle class- restricting business growth and increasing inflation from QE-, the bottom's gonna fall out. I am a realtor. and I see 3+ bedroom. 2 bath homes in very good or better condition over and over again going for $50,000 to $70,000. These are not new homes, but still these prices are extremely deflated. Scary.

  • It's Now Trading At $50, So Is There Any Oxygen Left In O? [View article]
Someone please correct me if I am wrong: at the current price (rounding off) of $50 per share, @17 cents div. per share, one would have to purchase $15,000 worth of stock to get a dividend yield in the amount of $50 each month?

Appreciate your article. A high compliment is that so many need and want to reread it. (I am one.) A thorough analysis and a starting point from which I will practice my own "due diligence." Thank-you!
