Led by MIT engineers and Wall Street analysts, Trefis.com helps you understand how a company's products, that you touch, read, or hear about everyday, impact its stock price.
Surprisingly, the founders of Trefis discovered that along with most other people they just did not understand even the seemingly familiar companies around them: Apple, Google, Coca Cola, Walmart, GE, Ford, Gap, and others.
This might include you though you may have invested money in these companies, or may have been working with one of them for years as an employee, or have consulted with them as an expert for a long time.
Consider these questions:
•What % of Apple's stock price is iPhones? (Q: Is it 5%, 25%, or 50%?)
•What % of Dell's stock price is Dell Notebooks?
•If Bing took half the market share from Google Search, what % upside could there be for Microsoft’s stock?
On Trefis you will get answers to questions like above.
You can play with assumptions, or try scenarios, as-well-as ask questions to other users and experts. The platform uses extensive data to show in a single snapshot what drives the value of a company's business.
Trefis makes the same content, data, and tools that are currently available only to professional investors today, accessible to everyone. Importantly, it makes the extensive data/tools easy to use and understand, allowing investors to leverage the platform in their decision making much more efficiently than anything else available.
Trefis is currently used by hundreds of thousands of investors, company employees, and business professionals.

A new age platform for the latest in finance and everything else.
Through Bidness Etc, we’re bringing the 99% back in the loop by presenting the best financial research in the simplest and most creative ways possible.
We have distilled a decade and billions of dollars’ worth of trading experience into developing the idea behind Bidness Etc, and we feel we can do a better job of analyzing and reporting financial matters than anyone else.
We are a team of more than 60 financial wizards, musicians, rock stars, artists, singers, aspiring philosophers and tech geeks working hard to change the way human beings think and interact with finance.
We know that quality financial analysis requires a higher level of intelligence, and that what is reported by financial media is too far behind the curve to be of any relevance to the savvy reader. Here’s our solution to that problem: a platform that gives away the best information and analysis out there for free, thereby democratizing individuals’ access to finance. We’re also pushing the envelope by delivering it visually.
We feel that by doing so, Bidness Etc. will become humanity’s first step into a new age for financial media, and that we’ll set the standards for tomorrow with our revolutionary new product.
And that’s not all.
We know that figures, facts, numbers and stats can get quite mind-numbing after a while. Therein lies the kicker: we’re presenting our data in the most visually appealing ways possible. By doing so, we are quite literally transforming financial reporting into a new form of art. We have also incorporated an entertainment section in our website, which tracks the global zeitgeist and provides our take on the hottest topics trending on the web. We feel that this will help us take finance to the mainstream, and complete what the Bidness Etc. experience is all about.
This is a beta version of our web portal. We hope it will keep you coming back for more, because we have a major surprise in store for readers for the month of November. Here’s a spoiler, though: finance will never have looked better once we go all out! And you’ll know we’ve meant Bidness all along when we claim to become the best place on the web.

Vatalyst: Value Investing with a Catalyst
I am an independent trader originally from New York. I am mostly a value and commodities investor, but I do use some options based hedging strategies as well.
I hope you enjoy my work!
I have spent more than a year building Bridgetown Financial Group with my partner Jim Trosen, and I am incredibly proud of the work that we have done.
We have grown our client base and assets under management more than 100% from when we started. We have retained all of our clients through a very difficult market downturn. During that downturn, we kept our heads and did not make any emotional decisions. As a result, nearly all of our clients are in better financial shape than when they started with us.
I personally have grown in my ability to understand the stock market and economy and turn that understanding into portfolios of bonds, stocks, and options. I have spent time with clients and have a better sense of how to give them a peace of mind about their financial future. I have gained significant skill in using software, such as R, to gain a quantitative understanding of the market and of potential companies. And I have designed processes that make Jim and my work easier.
I’ve also continued to teach myself every day. I study history, math, economics, and am working especially on the skills of econometrics, forecasting, and machine learning. I don’t ever plan to stop teaching myself new skills and new theories on the world.
My goals for the near future are to continue building Bridgetown and to continue learning more every day.
My ultimate goal is to make large-scale positive change in the world and to acquire the connections, money and skills that will allow me to do so.

I've been writing for the professional press for the last five years and have been on the Fox Business channel several times as a guest describing my written work. In January 2009, I started writing my blog Bruce Krasting (http://brucekrasting.blogspot.com). From 1990-1995 I ran a private hedge fund in Greenwich Ct. called Falconer Limited. Investments were driven by macro developments. We expressed our views in global bonds, currencies, stocks, commodities and derivatives. I closed the fund and retired in 1995. I've also been employed by Drexel Burnham Lambert, Citicorp, Credit Suisse and Irving Trust Corp. I hold a bachelor's degree in economics from Ithaca College and currently live in Westchester, NY.

After earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and two master degrees (a Master in Public Policy and a Master in Business Administration) from the University of Texas at Austin, J.S. Kim started working within the Private Wealth Management division of one of the largest financial institutions in America. In 2005, dissatisfied with the ethics of the commercial investment industry and to be able to serve his clients in a manner consistent with his own commitment to integrity and honor, JS left the corporate world behind to launch his own company, SmartKnowledgeU™ (http://smartknowledgeu.com/), a fiercely independent investment research, consulting and education firm in 2006.

Matthew has devised, implemented and executed trading strategies for several firms since entering the commodity business in 2001. Matthew has also managed his own global macro CTA that traded numerous futures and options strategies and operated his own Introducing Broker for 5 years. I am the founder and director of three companies: Euro Pacific Capital (www.europac.net), a full service, registered broker-dealer and RIA which specializes in foreign securities; Euro Pacific Precious Metals (www.europacmetals.com), a gold & silver coin and bullion dealer; and Euro Pacific Asset Management (www.europacificfunds.com), a fund management company that is building a family of mutual funds based on my economic philosophy.
I am most well-known for accurately and publicly predicting the collapse of the housing and credit markets, the subprime crisis, and the increasing price of gold relative to the US dollar, resulting in the viral YouTube video "Peter Schiff Was Right."
I fly around the country and the world speaking to diverse groups, from academic conferences to Tea Party rallies. I have also appeared regularly on cable news stations since the mid-2000s trying to warn people of the impending economic collapse brought on by destructive fiscal and economic policy in Washington.
To that end, I published my first book, "Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Coming Economic Collapse," in early 2007, predicting the 2008 economic crisis while the mainstream commentators were saying it was impossible. Then, at the height of the crisis, I released "The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets," in which I showed readers how to help protect their finances in turbulent times. I've written updated versions of both Crash Proof and The Little Book since then, talking about how my predictions fared and why the worst of the crash is still ahead of us. I also wrote a book with my brother based on a popular comic book my dad wrote in the '70s. "How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" is an illustrated fable that starts with three guys on an island and uses allegory to explain exactly how we got into our current mess.
In the 2010 election season, I ran for the US Senate seat of retiring Senator Chris Dodd in my home state of Connecticut in order to bring attention to the mounting problems in this country. While I did not win the seat, my message of fiscal and monetary sanity was brought to a new audience of voters and political leaders.
I've had a regular video blog on YouTube since 2009, called The Schiff Report (www.youtube.com/user/SchiffReport) and, after giving up my long-running Wall Street Unspun podcast, I am now the host of a nightly radio show called The Peter Schiff Show (www.schiffradio.com).
