What I'm am saying is that spending money and loaning money are different things. And loaning money and backstopping are different things. To say we have spent 7.4 Trillion dollars is a flat out lie. How much money have we SPENT in which we expect no return?

Something has been bothering me for a long time when I hear the media talk about this 7.4 Trillion... When you compare the amount of money spend on something like the Louisiana Purchase to the modern day money being put to use, I do not feel like they exactly the same. The money we spend on the Louisiana Purchase was SPENT... gone... erased. I'm not an expert but I don't feel like the US Government has SPENT 7.4 Trillion dollars, I believe they have only LOANED that money, and pledged the rest as a backstop...
Obviously they won't make a profit, because that is not the point for government lending. But to act like the Government has completely erased/spent 7.4 Trillion into banks is misinformation. Since when did a pledge turn in to money being spend.
Mr. Quinn, is it not more important to analyze the impact in terms of potential losses from these government loans/pledges/guarante... Don't act like you don't use fear get people to read your stuff.
