  • Gigamon -28.6% AH on Q2 warning [View news story]
2nd quarter in a row. Doesn't look to good. 2 quarters in a row with the same excuse... I'm not buying it this time and I'd be surprised if anyone else would be. The numbers should tell an interesting story when they come out the 24th of July.

  • Tesla Motors' (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk on Q1 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Transcript looks fine. Lots of very closely related questions. Lots of focus on gross margins. They seem confident that North America demand is still situated to grow for the model S. News on the Model X being delayed is not a good sign for the price reaction of the stock and the sentiment of buyers. Also seems like the gigafactory is behind schedule. Overall I think there has not been a significant change in the story to warrant any selling and the 7 some % drop after hours is the result of a run up right before earnings by retail investors looking to grab an easy lunch. They were hoping for some announcement that would drive it up and none came.

It will be interesting to see what happens this morning, but doubtfully exciting.

I'd think he is using it to give back via philanthropic investments.

  • The Key Event That Will Signal The Next Bear Market [View article]
Excellent Article Eric. Really enjoyed reading your take on market technical and the break down of the types of breaks of the 200 moving day average, all blended with a hint of fundamental analysis. Great article.

What do you view as a good place to be when the market does confirm it is in a bear market? Do you switch to bonds or prefer to short certain stocks?

  • Growth In Network Tools Creates A Rising Tide For Gigamon [View article]
There's a lot of movement from some of the largest customers today from oracle and SAP towards e-Government solutions. Developing countries are picking up the pace of providing E-Government solutions to replace the tedious and very outdated silo and even paper based systems they have today. From first glance, and read about what Gigamon is providing I'd say this company could double in value within a year, if it is not acquired first. The number one obstacle seems to be what the what Zeus, the author of this article, and others point out as "confusion" or lack interest in taking time to understand what Gigamon does.

Though I'm not an IT guy I'm hoping to write an article that explains the business and product a bit and go into the financials.

  • New Models From Honda And Audi Will Consign Tesla And Its Superchargers To A Smaller Niche [View article]
Good analysis except you completely discounted the fact that the push for better batteries has never been stronger. Within 3 years I believe the model E will most probably have the same range as the model S, but at a fraction of the price.

The issue with trying to make sense of Tesla's valuation is, and remains, in the projection of where we will be technologically.

History has already proven to us that TSLA, although an auto industry player, is not an auto industry typical stock. It's a sort of hybrid, if you want to call it that. It's a hybrid of a Tech stock "way its priced and trades" in an auto industry...

  • Tesla: Time To Take Profits? [View article]
    surferbroadband,
I did not mean to be disrespectful to the author, Bill Maurer, and if the seeking alpha community feels as though it was disrespectful I am open to rewording my comment.
I have read many, many, articles by Bill and have A lot of respect for him and his views, opinions, and ideas.
I respectfully disagree with Bill's view in his article. Choosing to sell one investment because it is now nearing new highs is certainly protecting yourself from the risk associated with being at new highs. Bill suggests reinvesting the money placed in this high risk stock into,
    1) PM (which by the way has declined 8.29% over the past month) because it is "Less risky", or reinvesting your Tesla gains into,
    2) APPL (Down 9.87% over the past month to date) because it is cheap.
This is certainly an opinion and perspective that should be considered by the readers. I just don't see any other part in the article that details where future appreciation exists for my new investment in PM or APPL. I also think its worth noting that the cult following for TSLA acts as a blessing for most of us traders because its a safety net that almost guarantees that TSLA will not fall far below $120 - my perception of where diehards and loyalists would swoop back into rescue the stock at this point in time.

Thanks for the clarification Garrett! I like your view of float to trading volume. That's a simple yet very telling indicator I hadn't thought to think about!

Bill.... I can't believe you recommended people pull money out of TSLA and put it in... Phillip Morris of all places.... A cigarette conglomerate... Really?

Have you forgotten completely about the immense cult following of green revolution individuals?

I like your articles, but this one is a miss on so many fronts. I stopped reading after you recommend investing in Apple (because it was beat down, and according to you, essientially on that alone its a good buy?) and Phillip Morris...
