By buying SUN, Oracle not only acquired a major computing hardware platform and acquired their primary competitor in the small computer space (MySQL), they also acquired a major storage vendor in STK. Put SUN hardware and STK storage (disk, tape, and storage software) together with Oracle DB and Oracle applications and they will have an unstoppable data warehouse and data archiving platform in a couple of years, if not sooner. Data Warehouses, with business intelligence applications like campaign management and risk management, and data archiving is where most of the growth in the IT industry will be for the forseeable future. That was the main point of the Oracle acquisition of SUN, and it was brilliant.]]>

That was the main point of the Oracle acquisition of SUN, and it was brilliant. If there is a bidding war from here, Oracle will probably be willng to pay much more for JAVA because if the do not, they will never be able to play in the data warehouse space with a box of their own. All, remember that the two democrats voted against the merger in the end. If Obama wins, the FCC board will be 3 democrats and 2 republicans. If that happens we can expect them, under the influence of the NAB, to throw everything they have at SIRI to either kill it or bust it up. VOTE REPUBLICAN!!

The stock is news driven. SIRI needs almost daily press releases with new offers and programming services.

Unless you actually believe the company will go out of business you should either hold or buy. As far as the subscriber slowdown, what moron did not know that we would see that right about now as a result of the merger confusion? Now that that is done, and as the subscription options get clarity, subscribers should pick up over the Christmas season.

SIRI should be negotiating marketing partnerships with media content companies like NetFlix and Blockbuster as I said in my article:

seekingalpha.com/artic...

to drive new subscribers.]]>

They bring with them the heavy cost of crime and federal, state and local government welfare and support programs. Minority nationally organized street gangs now run rampant in America.
