SEC Makes a Move on Naked Short Selling: Too Little, Too Late for Sirius [View article]
Stockholders should have to be notified by their trading firms if their shares are 'borrowed' for the purpose of short selling. I have told Schwab not to lend my shares. Others would also. This would stop most of the short selling. Why would any one lend their shares to be sold short?

Mel had a plan to combine SIRI and XMSR, and executed to that plan and got it done. We all agreed with the plan at the time with huge dollar signes in our eyes. It's no use to look back and say what should have been done differently. Give the guy credit for his accomplishments, and for keeping SIRI afloat through this historic unexpected economic downturn which could have sunk us all. He deserves the money and the position. He will succeed in the long term. Be patient.
Well I guess it's time. I have owned SIRI stock for over 4 years and written several articles on SA in praise of the stock, but have never subscribed. I need a new phone anyway. I'll get the new iPhone this weekend and get the Sirius app on it. I do not care about Howard Stern, in fact you couldn't pay me to listen to him/it. All I care about is financial news and good music. While I'm at it I'll get Sirius in 2 of my cars also, maybe even for the house.
I often find that I am an indicator of the populatity of things for Standard White Guys over 50. They seem to take off when I finally get them. If so, this is the beginning of a huge revenue surge for SIRI.

Satillite Radio is here to stay. The big question is what is the saturation point for people who will pay for it in North America. Is it 20M? , 30M?, certainly it is below 100M. But what is it? And how many subscribers does SIRI need in order for the company to make a respectable profit and for the stock to be viable? I had the break-even number at about 9M for SIRI before the merger, and about 15M to start showing a reasonable profit. The merger greatly raised those numbers because of the additional debt but I do not have a good feel for what they are. I think maybe 25M to start breaking even and 35M to start showing a workable profit. The question is, can we get there before we reach the NA saturation point? I wish someone would write an article to address these questions.

There will be a sharp drop in the price of all those cars still on the lots of GM and Chrysler. That will mean huge car sales in the next few months which will be a windfall for SIRI.
Why doesn't SIRI have a marketing deal with Harley Davidson (HOG) like they do with the car companies? Harley's business is doing great. They should also look at the other motorcycle manufacturers.

Regular radio does suck, and suck hard, especially in the Atlanta area. I have all but destroyed the dashboard and radio in my Avalanche from changing stations and turning it off. My radio could be the poster child for the NAB.
All, remember that the two democrats voted against the merger in the end. If Obama wins, the FCC board will be 3 democrats and 2 republicans. If that happens we can expect them, under the influence of the NAB, to throw everything they have at SIRI to either kill it or bust it up. VOTE REPUBLICAN!!

When my country club got into financial trouble they assessed the members. SIRI should add a $10 voluntary assessment to everyone's bill - pay it if you want to. The assessment could be refunded after positive cash flow. I would gladly pay double that. This is a small price to pay for keeping the company going. SIRI subscribers are loyal and depend on the service to stay entertained and informed. I think everone would pay it, adding over $200M to current assets.
