    Great article. Thanks for pointing out the interplay between the domestic crisis and foreign finances.

    The massive amounts of foreign held US debt will cost us much more than interest. The comments in your article from the Chinese were only subtle hints of what may come in the future. If the US budget continues to operate via expectations of ever-continuing foreign debt purchases the day may come when the Chinese or Japanese stop hinting and start dictating with a not so subtle "or else".

    As Ben Franklin wrote over 200 years ago, "The borrower is a slave to the lender."
