  • 6 High-Quality Dividend Stocks For Solid Long-Term Total Returns [View article]
Thanks - however, all I'm seeing is the Top 10 of an Index of 140 stocks - 9 of which are either Consumer Discretionary or Consumer Staples. From the Index info, the Top 10 only make up 13% of the Index of 140 stocks. I'd be interested in seeing the rest of the list if its something in the public domain. Quality rating is something I look at pretty closely reasoning (I'm a neophyte investor, so take it for what its worth) that quality should do better long term which is my holding horizon. Thanks again, Ken

Is the link to the Index functioning properly? I clicked it via two different browsers and received an error message both times.

  • My Take On Kinder Morgan [View article]
Interesting article in Friday's WSJ (April 13) about a proposed KMP project in Canada - not sure if the link would work so I'll just refer you to wsj.com and the article is titled: "With a $5 Billion Pipeline Project, Canada Looks to Bypass U.S. for Asia."

Info about the $5B project can also be found on the Kinder Morgan website's Recent News section.

Perhaps due to a one-time $4B charge for breakup of the failed T-Mobile deal taken in the 4th Quarter.

(with a grin)... think I'll keep with D4L rather than UBS for analysis. Since the Dividend Stock Analysis for AFL came out, the stock is up 5%.

Yes, Aflac benefits from a strong yen/dollar exchange rate. The company mentions this in its financial reports. As a non-professional, I won't risk characterizing the impacts inaccurately and refer you to their most recent quarterly report which can be found at:

The company addresses the issue in greater detail on the first page of the quarterly report.

Year end earnings release is Jan 31 so it might be an opportunity to learn more about the exposure to European debt. I agree it seems like a fine company and with a pay-out ratio below 40% should be able to continue the dividends but I'm concerned about having all-the-eggs-in-one basket (80/20 Japan and U.S.). Will watch...

Any thoughts / concerns over having premiums / earnings so heavily weighted in Japan?

  • Nestle: Global Blue Chip That Continues to Share the Wealth With Shareholders [View article]
This is from a "quote" click on the Morgan Stanley website. I have not gone back to double check the company's website financials or most recent quarterly statements - also have not compared it to other financial websites:

    UL: P.E. = 21.92. EPS = $1.46 and Div = $1.24.

Thanks.... recognizing you hold it in a retirement account and have a tax withholding imposed is helpful. Notwithstanding the Nestle withholding tax issue, I think I'll pass on both UL and Nestle at this time based on their respective PE's and payout ratios that are higher than my comfort level. Both appear to be great companies though. Thanks again.

Anyone know if Nestle has a tax withholding? I'm thinking of adding it to my retirement account. Thanks....

Thanks for the article - nice list ... Just curious - any concerns about CLX's ability to continue to grow its dividend? Noticed its payout ratio is now more than 50%. Payout ratio equal to or less than 50% is one of the metrics I try to find...
