Helped start and direct the development of First Union Brokerage Service,Inc which was one of the Banking Industries first Bank Discount Brokerage firms in 1984.First Union Brokerage Service,Inc which later became Wachovia Securities,Inc. which is now Wells Fargo Investments is currently one of the largest bank brokerage firms operating at this time.
Powers has been instrumental developing various trading programs and platforms for bank discount brokerage operations, linking internet via exchange communication networks order entry systems. Helped in the development and training of Registered Investment Counselors for the Banking industries first bank sponsored Mutual Fund , the Salem Fund, sold through bank discount brokers. Designed and developed many sales and marketing plans/programs for the banking industries first full service sales organization.
During his sales and marketing career as an Registered Investment Counselor, Powers personally had over $376 million dollars under management of clients assets before his retirement. He has been involved with all types of Investments, Life Insurance, Mutual Funds, Financial Planning, CFP, and held almost all Registered Representative classifications and Series designations and has been a RIA.
