Sirius XM: Media's Fear-Mongering Has Gone on Long Enough [View article]
relmor,
you're right...I missed your post. but my point remains the same...everything you said is right...and backed up by facts as usual...in which I know you take pride...but siri has done little to combat the negative spin. to expect the media to go positive is ridiculous...its simply not the way they do business...never have...never will. so don't spend a precious second wishing or expecting othewise. mel has left the media, and more importantly, his shareholders totally in the dark. as many have said he's operating like this company is private already. even Malone for that matter has not commented on the deal..at least as far as I know. until these guys step up and set the record straight...bank on media going negative. only hope is this company puts together some strong quarters, forms some important strategic alliances, develop new lines of revenue...PERFORMS. In that regard, I still believe Mel is on track and actually managing pretty damn well in this environment. but he never tells us so how would we really know....

that's the key point wilber. what else can the media do but spin their point of view. mel has been totally silent basically since the merger leaving investors and media with abosultely no idea what the strategies and intentions are behind the action. as a result, we apply our own interpretation and why would msm take any other course but the negative one when our stock price is trading for less than one toll on the garden state parkway and bankruptcy has been thrown out there by the company itself as a possible outcome. sure makes for better news that some pie in the sky story of a rebound no one can envision....that is without some guidance from mgt.
just chiming in...am no savy investor...and certainly not very technical...but wise enough to understand that we are at the mercy of major manipulation so why bother even trying to understand the pps logically. it's fruitless. who knows if mels an victim or a conspirator...does it matter...end result is the same...a battered stock now tied to the back of someone's bumper getting dragged down main street for all to see. who the hell would consider investing in siri at this point?
only way out of this mess is performance...that's it. question is...is mel really trying to lift the company or keep it down to take it private. again...we'll never know and it doesn't matter. the way i see it you hang in there for the long run....buy/sell in pops and drops to improve position...or dump it all after Q4 pop. like most of you guys, i'm not selling anytime soon. i do think this company has value and incredible potential..and some one...some day...is going to bring it to a better place.
last comment: I'll bet my 300,000 shares right now that we settle back to .10 - .11 base by end of this week. if I have some balls I'll jump back in for q4...
man the frustration is just incredible. i dont even know if my comments have any value or make any sense...just burning off some steam...thanks for listening.

mornnig all...
gotta get rid of the bottom feeders before this thing moves today. there are a ton of people out there that bought in the .11 range and looking to score the quick slam. mm will take them out this morning and then we'll see some modest movement ahead. might take a few days for the market to digest the deal and change the negative sentiment that has plagued siri for so long. this isn't going to happen in one shot. strong q4 numbers will ignite the movement we were hoping for today. only a week away...

guys...just got back to my computer...thanks for commenting on my post...i really appreciate the feedback....
cos...great point about legitimacy. my brother is into stocks big time and he, like several others I've spoken with...simply dismisses siri like it doesn't even exist. this partnership definitely brings siri into the mainstream communications market. once the street gets on board we'll all benefit.

guys this latest news is a little disconcerting. sounds like the terms have changed. maybe malone is not our white knight afterall. trying to figure out where his offer is much different than ergens. he's willing to invest and pay off some debt in return for "major stake" in the company. isn't that what ergen was offering???? only difference may be that mel gets to keep his job. this doesn't sound like the "good will" deal that was intended to just stave off ergen..it sounds more like an agressive move to wrestle control from a weak and vulnerable siri. debt for equit is not what the early reports were saying, but clearly it appears that's now on the table. we all have to remember that anything is better than bk...but maybe we'll need to be patient for another year or so to realize the potential of the pps...it may not come in the short term based on these latest terms.

i agree...I'm in at .35 and believe i have a shot at getting back to even tomorrow. then the tough question comes...bail...or hang in there for ride up to a buck. that could be a tough journey to take. but i'm pretty convinced that q4 results will be on the plus side so I'm thinking it makes sense to stay in until then. not sure malone would have got involved if mel didn't have something good to show him with this last quarter. next week or two will be interesting.
again, thanks to all you guys that deal in the facts and keep us grounded in reality. soon, i think we're all going to be glad we hung in there

to the pros out there...when do you think we'll get some news? is there any advantage to announce today....before/after the open/close tomorrow? I don't believe there is heavy remaining short interest so not sure if it matters when they announce. would like to hear your thoughts...
also, lets have some fun and assume that the malone bridge loan is the way this thing rolls out, but may debt is still unresolved. that's what the post article said. they would take the next couple months to address that as part of the plan. so feb debt handled and very strong commitment from malone to help resolve may and dec....ok....what does the stock do tomorrow based on that announcement?

just wanted to throw in my appreciation for all of you guys that bring to the table smart, insightful analysis to this very challenging stock. like many of you, i hold a pretty significant position in siri which comprises are much larger % of my portfolio than it should. when the bottom started to fall out and we were down at 5 and 6 cents and BK was all you heard, it was you guys that help me keep my emotions in check and fight thru the incredible fear of losing it all. you are an extraordinary support group as much as you are oustanding financial advisors. my thanks go out to all of you, sincerely, and i look forward to sharing the exhiliration of an improving siri in the coming weeks. special thanks to relmor, cos, s162, killer and 16388 as you guys have anchored this team from the beginning. and to all the others...thanks and all the best.
but i have to admit...the latest developments are giving me hope that siri will live to fight another day without us shareholders getting totally wiped out. at this point I'm not looking for this miraculous pop in pps. from what i can tell both ergen and malone are both offering siri a path to remain intact as is, but materially nothing more.
ill take it....
gotta hand it to mel...even without knowing the outcome...this guy is one hell of a fighter...i'll take him on my team any day....
Sirius: Is Chapter 11 Good for Shareholders? [View article]
s162,
couldnt have said it better. I have believed all along that Mel is looking down the road, beyond Feb, and realizing that with no shot to survive bk is his only option to keep the company alive. i read the articles, the blogs and the boards and there is a ton of "hope" out there. but the facts are that this business model is taking to long to reach profitability. the fcc delay and lack or credit are two obstacles that just can't be overcome. only hope at this point is malone imo. ergen will take the longs out as will bk. i believe mel's pulling out all the stops to avoid bk, but his options are very limited.
