I will be probably be at least a decade before China can seriously challenge Boeing or Airbus.
In High Speed Rail technology, however, China is already way ahead of US. China will have the largest and most comprehensive high speed rail network in a few years. Fortune magazine has a new article about it. In fact, Chinese is beginning to consider exporting its high speed rail technology and products, and US is one of many countries to have shown keen interest.
I sure hope optimists are right. BA has turned out to be a huge disappointment in my portfolio. I was giving it one more chance and it blew up.
Unfortunately, this smells like very deep rots beyond the CEO can control. I used to be an Eng VP for new products development. Blow ups like this is unthinkable and unexcusable. This is definitely not the result of a single point of failure. BA needs to ply open and review every part of its product development organizations and processes to figure out how this could happen and fix the problems.
