  • Buffett's Betrayal [View article]
Is the author a disillusioned groupie or an opportunist trying to free-ride on Buffet's fame? I have no idea.

What I do know is that Buffet is a CEO/Investor in charge of a company. His job is to seek best returns for his company. He owes nobody else, include the author, any favors.

The media and an investment public hungry for star power made him into a supernatural, morally perfect investment saint. So maybe Buffet made the mistake by playing along with that surreal image a little bit, but if he had taken up that role too seriously, he would have failed his own rule of offering "competent management" to Bershire's stakeholders (stock and bond holders, employees) and would have become a failure long ago.

I actually find the author's display of a prevalent sense of righteousness and entitlement to be pretentious and rather odious.

  • MidAmerican Energy, BYD Partner on Battery Storage Initiative [View article]
    Very good article and discussions.

"That is why I am amazed, like yourself, of why BYD is pursuing the power infrastructure market at this time. This new battery is perfect for vehicles, but is probably not the cost effective battery for the alternative energy infrastructure at this time because it is going to be many years for the cost to decrease sufficiently. "

Perhaps the answer lies in the new battery/power service architecture that will be developed to service the electric articles. Imagine a standardized autobattery pack that also serve as a build block of the power storage system that is part of the future power grid, situated in a future power service station that was transformed either from a current gas station in the auto service netowrk and/or a substation of the current power network. The future service station owner may have their own solar/wind generator station to boot.

The customer drive in and replace a fully chared battery pack and drive away. The empty battery goes to the battery bank in the service station to be recharged, either by power from the grid or the local generators. Becoming part of the power storage system.

An combined auto-service/utility station can changed the battery cost economics for both the auto-battery service and the utility storage service, which by nature is a backup service and should not require dedicated battery resources.

What a brilliant idea. Maybe I should apply for a petent.

  • Buffett, Grantham and China: What the Savers Are Buying [View article]
Author is fortunate to not have learned about the Panzer book in 2007. He could have taken that 'doomsday' book as a sure sing of market bottom in 2007.

  • Buffett, Grantham and China: What the Savers Are Buying [View article]
Author owes Michael Panzer a gigantic appology.

The guy publish the book "Financial Amargeddon" in March 2007! All though 2007 and most of 2008, he showed up on perm-bull, Goldilock economist Larry Kudlow's show on CNBC getting a bashing (theatrical & civil) from Kudlow while consistently maintaining his super bearish stance from the beginning of the subprime crisis all through its contagion into the global financial armargeddon that we are still trapped in. Finally in late last year, the permanently 'optimistic' Kudlow had to grudgingly admit Panzer had been right all along.

I kicked myself for not following Michael Panzer's warnings whole heartedly and simply short the market and go away. I would have been much richer now.
