Research in Motion Knocked Down, Not Out

There really isnt much research to support that spending on smartphones will decrease, if anything all arrows point to increased spending on smartphones, yes, even in this current economic crisis. RIMM has grown impressively over the past 4 years, but i think they have so much more room to grow when they penetrate international markets.

Will Consumers Flip for New BlackBerry?

with cellphone subsidies not going away anytime soon and the cyclical nature of carrier contracts, there is always a new flood of people needing to upgrade their device. even in economic turmoil, i would guess people are willing to part with $100 to get a new phone (usually after 2 years, your cell phone is done anyways). this isnt about converting smartphone users into flip smartphone users, its about bridging the gap between people who wouldnt normally buy a smartphone because of an unfamiliar form factor.
the new flip from blackberry is one cool phone, well see if the market accepts it - i would guess yes.
