  • Apple Earnings Preview: It's All About iPhone Sales Momentum [View article]
People don't seem to understand that "deep innovation" doesn't directly relate to a stock being great. So Apple followed a trend into larger screens. It was great business and earnings are way, way up. That's what makes a great stock.

  • Apple: A Small Change In Apple Maps, A Giant Leap Into Mobile Ads [View article]
For some reason, that's how AAPL works. It might just be because it has so many eyes on it, but AAPL price stays compressed until earnings push the valuation so ridiculously low that it springs up 30% in a few months. It's happened many times with AAPL. You're seeing the spring getting loaded again right now.

  • Apple's Music Strategy Looks Increasingly Risky [View article]
Risky financially? Apple is so big, they could leave the music biz entirely and it wouldn't matter much, financially.

But never underestimate the power of having an app pre-installed in every iPhone. If they can be as good and as cheap or cheaper than other services, the path of least resistance will be their friend.

  • Report: New Apple TV launching in June, will feature App Store/Siri [View news story]
Absolutely true. Making fun of Apple maps is an old meme at this point. I "hey siri"d my way all over California this year with hands free driving directions and never had one problem.

  • Report: New Apple TV launching in June, will feature App Store/Siri [View news story]
I really bet Primesense motion tracking will be big here. The apps that make the most sense in the TV are games. Games may be the killer feature of the new appletv. I'd count on controllers being part of the package.

  • Bloomberg: Apple delays production of 12.9" iPad to September (updated) [View news story]

  • Notes On Cars (And Apple) [View article]
You're vastly overestimating how good human driver are at dealing with those things. A computer can detect and track 1000s of obstacles all at once without losing focus or getting distracted. It can see around corners and objects.

  • Apple patent infringement suits keep coming [View news story]
The "patents" were created by a company that exists solely to patent things they know will be done in the future and just wait until the time comes to sue the person who does it. It has nothing to do with innovation.

  • Apple's Electric Vehicle Opportunity [View article]
It's easy to forget that people thought it was crazy for a computer company to get into phone making. They were seen as two completely different things 10 years ago.

I'm sure that was the same when credit cards started. These things don't go from zero to everybody overnight. Early numbers are very promising though.

  • Apple Earnings Review: It's Always A Good Time [View article]
The fact that only a small percentage of buyers were upgrades says nothing of the stickiness of the iOS platform. Ios has over 90% repurchase rate. This is about Apple expanding into places where it hasn't had a presence before, attracting new users

$350 for the basic model. There's a cool thing that happens when information goes from easy to completely frictionless.
