  • Janco Partners' Arenson Resumes Sirius Coverage, Discusses Pros and Cons [View article]
I haven't posted in soooooo long, but I still stop back once in a while to see what's going on. I see the conspiracy theorists are still running the show. It seems almost quaint! LOL I got out of trading Sirius when it became a "normal" stock a couple of months ago. I'm a trader, and there simply isn't enough movement in the stock to interest me anymore.
Still, here's the number one problem for the stock, the huge abundance of shares. Nothing good will happen to the stock until that is solved.
In my opinion Mel should have taken his lumps in the up market of this year, rather than the down market coming for 2010.
I'm guessing this company will struggle to reach for $1.00 until March, and do the reverse then, because it won't make it. Congrats to everybody who made a ton of money this year in the stock, but don't be foolish. Buy puts now to cover what's going to happen next year, while the VIX is low and the cost cheap. Good luck!

  • Why Radio and Television Should Partner Up [View article]
Get ready to go again at .35 or .36 Probably by the end of the week unless there is some terrific good news in the general market. The end of day slide indicates that somebody wants back in, and is forcing the issue.

  • Microsoft Should Take Music Siriusly  [View article]
Here's a link to a short piece about this 15 year old who wrote a report that has adults buzzing. Here's how it relates to sirius. He discusses how teenagers hate to pay for music. I have brought this up numerous times, that sirius has absolutely no "in" with the upcoming generation, and is virtually unknown in their world.

    tech.yahoo.com/blogs/p...

Microsoft isn't going to buy sirius, It's not the way they do business. If they bought yahoo they would not only get the search business, but yahoo's interest in Rhapsody as well which streams online music. Tha would make much morre sense for them.

This proposal brings up the main reason why I could never be a long term investor in sirius. Their technology has been superceded by the internet, and so there is no barrier to entry into their business. They do have big name content locked up temporarily, but as for the music, anybody can become their competitor through the internet.

What this means to me is that sirius can never make a profit, as they never have. It's like the landscaping business in that you never have control over your prices because competition is too fierce. Lots of people bring up this or that idea to add millions of subscriptions, but overlook the fact that sirius does not make money on their subscription rate right now. In order for them to survive, they would have to not only raise the subscription price right now, but also in anticipation of paying more to keep their exclusive content like Howard and major league sports, as those contracts become due. Combine those increases, with the capital costs for satelllites which their competitors don't have, and of course the huge interest payments, and I just don't see any reasonable path to profitability.

  • Sirius XM Silences Critics with New Contract for Karmazin [View article]
Between: Hopefully, you didn't buy a Chrysler or a GM vehicle that you liked a few years back. You might have made the same mistake with their stocks that you're making with Sirius. .35 is the intrinsic value of the stock, give or take a few cents, as I said a few months ago. If we go a few pennies below, it's time to buy. A few above, and it's time to sell. What could be simpler? Almost time to buy again next week.

Siri doom: "Yes, SIRI is sitting nice with car deals, the Ipod App, and Internet sales. SIRI should be at 7.00 now. Why is SIRI only 40 cents today? "

Stop! You're killing me! LOL That's just plain mean to the long term investors. (they won't listen anyway, lol)

Between: the quarterly report is going to be worse than last quarter, not better. Even given a large number of downloaded apps, that won't make up for the autos which will have fallen off the earth.

Oh and if you ONLY bought it at .05, and not before, then you are a huge winner and I congratulate you. Very few people on these boards have that kind of timing. This stock is for experienced traders only! True believers should buy the service, not the stock.

R & R You couldn't be more wrong if you set out to be a parody piece! The uptick rule will never come back because electronic trading makes it impossible to enforce, which is why it went away in the first place. Breaking above your 200 day moving average by tenths of a cent means absolutely nothing. Massive shorting of a stock is not "stored up buying power". No wonder people have lost ten of thousands of dollars or more waiting for this stock to move.

Two thoughts" Obvioulsyl Howard is no longer a shareholder, and must have dumped his along the line.

Second, There are certainly millions of people who buy Sirius solely for the music, BUT, not enough millions, and they don't pay enough money for this company to make a profit.

They CAN'T put MLB on the phone because their contract ONLY covers transmission through satellite, NO other medium. Absent a new contract, you will NEVER have those sports broadcasts on the iphone!
