  • Skype Founders Settle: After the Deal Drama, What Next? [View article]
18 million people on-line on Skype right now, just six months ago this was typically around 12 million. Skype is growing fast. Just log-in and you can see it in the bottom status on the Skype window. Glad eBay retained 30%.

Bob C you are comedy, just like Patricia you bash eBay because you want it back to the old way. Tell the truth Bob, if you were so happy with Amazon you wouldn't lurk on this board like so many others here.

Patricia, 5.35B to 12.2B in Q3.... enough said.

Amazon doesn't Bully their Sellers? You either follow the Amazon way or you don't Sell on Amazon. The only difference is that eBay tried to clean-up after the fact and experienced the pain of having to place controls where there wasn't any before.

Don't give me that crap the Amazon is the clear winner, if that was the case you wouldn't be here Chearleading for eBay to go back to way it was. Obviously Amazon has not been your complete answer either ..... LOL

I'm here Bob C, and again eBay is in a different stage on the growth curve as I've stated before. eBay had 12.2B in GMV in Q3 excluding Motor's, what was Amazon's REV in Q3? Big differences in profit too, again let's see how much Amazon is going to grow if they ever reach 12.2B in REV for that matter. Everybody taken with the growth %, but let's see how long it lasts....

  • eBay Manages Expectations - Perhaps Too Well [View article]
If eBay explained this better in their Call and the Press Releases there would not have been any sell off today, it would have been positive. (see below)

"In announcing Q3 earnings earlier this afternoon, the company projected Q4 EPS of 38-40 cents a share, which put the midpoint at 39 cents, or a penny below the Street consensus at 40 cents. But eBay CEO John Donahoe explained in an interview with Tech Trader Daily this afternoon that the guidance is based on the assumption that the company’s planned sale of Skype closes in the middle of the quarter. He says that factor reduced the forecast by about 5%, or around two cents a share; add that back in and you get a range of 40-42 cents, a mid-point of 41 cents, and a forecast ahead of the Street. (That, of course, assumes analysts hadn’t already reflected in their numbers a mid-quarter close for the Skype deal.) Revenue guidance for the quarter likewise would move up a bit if you back out the impact of the Skype transaction, and push the number up to around $2.35 billion, from $2.25 billion, ahead of the Street at $2.26 billion."

  • eBay Q3: Earnings Not Too Shabby, Outlook Tentative [View article]
Amazon has never done 12.2B in GMV and that's excluding Vehicles. Sorry but it's NOT EVEN CLOSE, let's see what they do when their as big as eBay is.
eBay is much more saturated the Amazon, yes. eBay had the growth Amazon is now experiencing 5 yrs ago. Let's see how fast Amazon grows when the reach 12.2B in GMV....

  • eBay Q3: Earnings Not Too Shabby, Outlook Tentative [View article]
12.2B in GMV for Marketplaces excluding Vehicles, a 7% Y/Y gain, impressive.
A little profit taking and the fact the guidance was as usual “cautiously optimistic” Stocks down a mere 4% in after hours. They'll make that up over Q4 and more. I expect a solid Q4 based on today.

-29% was due to BIll Me Later and Exchange Rate. Had nothing to due with performance. If you suggest anything else you didn't do your homework, but we have a lot of people like that here. LOL.

  • EBay Reporting Sales Gains [View article]
NYM, you sound delusional. eBay put them into poverty? Wow really off the Deep End.
But I'll answer your questions for entertainment sake....
Q: Do you prefer to buy items made in foriegn countries, or do you Prefer to support your fellow American ?
(I believe in a World economy, best Product at best Price wins. Never try to inflate something that will not survive, adapt fast or move on. Hope you can make sense of that, but I think you'll struggle)
Q: Present Ebay Rules NOT withstanding, Would you skip any seller that only takes checks and money orders and does NOT offer PayPal? If so, Why ?
(I only buy through Paypal, it's safe and extremely fast, efficient, and convenient. There is No better way to purchase on the internet. I have never had an issue with them in 5 years of using their Service, for me they are Outstanding.)
Q: Of the foriegn made items you buy, what percentage are from Asian or Substandard Countries ? (I've made several purchases from China, have yet to have any issues with the products I received. Very inexpensive, not Top quality, but for the things I purchased I didn't need Top quality. Takes about a week longer than purchasing an item in the US, not problem for me)
Q: Do you search for the Cheapest prices on your target items, or will you pay a Fair Price knowing the seller has a family to feed ?
(I don't care about a Sellers need, I have my own needs. If the item comes from a reputable Seller, cheapest Wins)

NYM I think you really need to get in touch with what your Buyers want, from your questions it’s obvious your more concerned with your own needs. That’s a losing strategy. You have to adapt to changes, if you can’t you'll lose. Yes, eBay has changed and it’s not going back, time to change too.
