eBay's not trying to be Overstock, their just telling the Analyst that to find a nitch for the Street to accept, coining it as the Secondary Market. Trust me, that will NOT be their only focus. They will compete on all fronts, I'm convinced of that.
The Market will decide where they'll win in the end and I think they know that.
Skype had Revenues of 500m in 2008 and they are adding to the bottom line. They should hit 1b in 2011, just slower the eBay initially expected. Skype will be well worth it in the end.
Amazon stable? I hear the problems are growing there fast. Amazon still has a long way to go to catch eBay. Remains to be seen if their little spurt will continue. List something on Amazon and watch them lower their pricing from their Warehouse. Goodluck...
Wake-Up!, which is the perfect name for you by the way. With Skype you could load it on a cell phone that has WIFI capabilities and call internationally from anywhere there is WFI access. Can MagicCrap do that?
That's why Skype is so compelling, the quality is excellent too.
Magic Jack is crap. You have to have a computer to use it. All you need with Skype is Internet access, WiFi. "Don't believe the Hype" is a lot of crap, 17 million Users on-line at a single time and growing fast.
Skype Voice quality is 2nd to none, and Video calling is Top Notch. No VIOP is where they are at technology wise. Again if you haven't tried it you should.
eBay: Out with the New, In with the Old [View article]
I don't think their changing their approach at all, that's a lot of BS to satisfy the Analyst. They are making specific listing changes that seems very positive, this was long, long overdue. No more searching through a listing to figure out what your getting, soon it will be easy and clear to a Buyer. This will be mandatory for all listings, no more item vagueness from lame Seller trying to dupe people. Item guarantees by eBay are another huge step to completing again with Amazon. eBay can afford this, their margins are huge. The biggest thing I think is that they understand the problems they face. It's just a matter of how soon these can be implemented. I think their on the right path.
eBay to Hold Analyst/Investor Day: Ten Questions to Ask Them [View article]
Why sell Skype now Scott? I can make no sense of that, not in this environment. Why not let the next 2yrs play out with Skype? How does that hurt eBay? The lack of focus is a bunch of crap, Skype operates as a separate entity and at this point the reward by far out weighs the risk.
I remember Meg claiming eBay would only make large financial moves based on the environment being right. I have to think that Donahue being her protege is of the same mindset. Obviously the environment to sell Skype is not right. I just hope he does not given into Wallstreet's pressure.
Has the Microsoft Live Cashback Program Returned? [View article]
I received my all cash back money, turned out to be a great deals during the Holidays, I upgraded a PC for dirt cheat thanks to this deal. All the money was deposited into my Paypal account and never had a problem accessing it. After you've received money back once from Microsoft, they will speed your future cash backs. I experienced that and so did a friend. 8% I'll take it, but would prefer the 20% and 25% I got during the holidays.

Hey Bob C and Wake-Up!, Don't you just wish Bonbagle had this kind of traffic? www.internetretailer.c... You might actually move some merchandise with #'s like that.
Funny I don't see Bonbagle.com listed here? How could that be? You guys are selling stuff right? LOL!
So much for eBay being dead, again wishful thinking.
