eBay Listens to Customers, Retires Old Search Engine [View article]
Bob C obviously you did not read all my post, not surprising. You can have Bonbagle. You won't see me there, I'll stay on eBay ;)
Wake-Up! I have one ID, sorry Dude. There's nothing to spin, anyone pumping Bonbagle.com is doing some serious spinning/pumping. You'll never have the same success on that site, just another eBay wana-be site. Fudge your #'s all you want, but you know the truth. The inventory on that site is pitiful and you better hope they don't grow too, if they do they'll be crashing Daily LOL!

Bonanzle.com is a terrible site with limited inventory. I clicked on Computers & Networking and got a 3 big blank photo spots saying "your picture here". What the F is that? It took too much time to figure out that the fish eye print below was there to continue my search. Continued on to find such limited inventory that it wasn't even worth browsing. How can you offer this as an eBay alternative?
Sorry but I'm sticking with eBay, I'm used to it's format and now prefer it. eBay's inventory is huge advantage. Bonanzle is NOT an alternative for me. Maybe for niche Sellers/Buyers but NO way is this ever going to be an eBay replacement.

Bob C that money came from Microsoft not eBay. I'm sure eBay paid for the click through as expected, but that was a Microsoft promotion for Live. The cash was theirs as they have very deep pockets. Any scams we're at Microsoft's expense not eBay's. Don't fault eBay for making it available to buyers.

Just to add, I received all of my Microsoft Live Cashback Money from my Holiday shopping on eBay. Got every dime I was expecting. Got as much as 30% cashback on a few items. What a great deal, too bad for those who didn't take advantage. All the items I bought were good deals without the cashback, then add between 20-30% cashback depending on the day I bought and there is no where on-line I could have done better.

Come on people, this is just eBay bashing as per ex-Seller usual. Amazon stills trailed eBay significantly for total traffic, sure they gained, but still have not caught eBay. eBay was the leader in Q4.
Don't count your Chickens before they hatch. Amazon has to continue this climb and that will not be easy as they had to give away the house in Q4 to see that increase. Their Margin is will be extremely poor in Q4. I can't see their profit gaining from Q3 to Q4, but we'll see. Remember eBay made 324+million in Q4 after GAAP. Let's see what Amazon makes.
I'm still comparing both sites in my shopping and Amazon hasn't had a better deal for me in a while.
Don't assume this % of traffic increase will continue.
Bob C this should have had no impact of eBay, none right, nada, nill? eBay should be growing despite this, right? This is NOT the dip of year of 2000, where eBay was a Star. This is much, much different environment, the casualties will be much heavier and eBay won't be one of them.
Bob C come on? You know Google already tried to create an eBay with Google base, it was a joke, still is. Even Microsoft tried with FairMarket, another joke, much like your Bonzagle crap site
I like the thought of Google with eBay, but it won't happen too much ego with both Leaderships to make a deal. eBay and Yahoo talked briefly a few years ago and couldn't make it happen, but that turned out for the better.
Lastly eBay is a cash cow like it or not, even solid companies are inching toward the RED now, eBay isn't even close, 2.2 billion in 2008. Watch how razor thin Amazon margins are, they had to give away the house in Q4. Sure their Rev look great, but their Margin will be laughable. eBay is as solid as ever and well positioned to weather the economic storm, Q4 was proof of that.
Bob C, I'm fortunate enough not to be experiencing the financial hardships some are facing. eBay is still the Top buying destination on the net. Let's be honest, you can pump Bonzagle all you want, but it's a joke. Never purchased there and see no compelling reason to, but good luck to you.
The writer states that Amazon is the preferred shopping destination for on-line shoppers? How is that when eBay lead all on-line retail with 80+ million visitors in Q4? Don't you have to be the leader 1st in order to be the preferred destination? I really question the integrity of articles like this. Amazon may saturated quickly and stagnate in the next QTR, who knows. Obviously there's some pumping being done in this article. I have shopped on both and prefer eBay as I find that I can get better deals with a little due diligence on eBay.
Bob C, still hanging around eBay? Just too compelling? I know. LOL
Serving your customers equal to a "Gun to the head"? Alan I think your in the wrong business. All the scenarios you described could have been avoided with proper communication.
I hope the new DSR system is here to stay, I purchased 7 items in the past 3 weeks and had great experiences with each Seller. One sent me the wrong item by mistake, apologized and sent me a shipping label immediately to return it. I can definitely see a difference in the level of service I'm getting from eBay sellers as compared to 2 yrs ago. This move has been for the better. Too bad for the Seller who could not complete in this environment, I for one am happy to see them go.

I don't know what this idiot is talking about (Dinah Balk), but I just went on an eBay buying spree. I used the Microsoft Cashback search and got 25% off on 4 purchases. I have no problem waiting 60 days. Bought a zip drive, Motherboard, memory, and CPU. Very happy with the deal I got on all purchases, I beat Amazon and Newegg considerably. eBay is the best site on-line for deals. I'm fine with the Seller exodus, great rid of the poor service Sellers and bring in people who actually want to complete for you dollar. love it!
