    The tanker calculation reminds me of a calculation made during one of the gasoline shortages in 1970s. A physicist estimated the tank capacities of all the autos in US and showed that if significant numbers of them were topped up, that would create a shortage, based on weekly supply. The shortage was limited to a short period of time by tank capacity, but many of you will remember the short-term disorder at filling stations.
