I keep reminding people that during the Great Depression, 75% of the people WERE employed, and spent on movies, sporting events, etc. The racetracks in the 1930's were pretty busy. . .so now we have 10% unemployment - that means 90% of the people are still working, and most paying their bills. . .the American economy is very elastic, and has much fat (literally and figuratively), probably attendance is off about 10 to 15% in the country at ballgames, etc. In the words of Paul Volker - "never underestimate the American consumer!"
