Why does the US dollar go up when things go badly here? The US dollar surged in November and February.

  • Canada Caught in the U.S. Dollar's Web [View article]
Canada should just print $100 billion and use it to pay down its (already low) federal debt. That should take the air out of the currency exchange.

  • Steep Treasury Curve: Time to Tighten [View article]
I think that TBT will be good in the long run, but we could have another "flight to quality" that drives treasury yields down in the mean time, triggered by GM bankruptcy chaos.

  • Is Cisco Going to Compete with Apple in the Living Room? [View article]
Apple's wireless hub is also much better than Linksys boxes - I owned a number of unreliable Linksys boxes before getting a (much better) Airport extreme.

  • Is Cisco Going to Compete with Apple in the Living Room? [View article]
Have you ever tried one of Scientifica Atlantica's cable boxes? Cisco has no chance against Apple, their consumer products are horrible.

  • Could Apple and Google Replace GM and Citi in the Dow? [View article]
Microsoft is a dying company, it will be worth less 10 years from now than it is now - why hang that smelly albatross around the neck of the DOW?

  • Apple, Google, Microsoft: A Tale of Three Earnings Reports [View article]
Steve jobs is already priced out of AAPL stock, in fact - a 5 year depression is priced into AAPL stock. I just don't see a safer investment than AAPL anywhere - the company is solid and continues to grow (the stock is a wild ride, but the actually company is a consistent performer), and the valuation is crazy low.

I just wish that Microsoft had bought Yahoo two years ago, then the combined entity would be dead next year instead of dead 10 years from now.

  • iPhone at Wal-Mart? Steve, Say it Aint So! [View article]
The Nintendo Wii is sold at Wal-mart [sarcasm] "oh no - the poor people can touch them, brand erosion!" [\sarcasm]

The more I think about your article, the dumber it seems. Dumbest thing I have read this week for sure.

  • iPhone at Wal-Mart? Steve, Say it Aint So! [View article]
Selling iPods and iPhones at Wal-mart is fine, and they will probably sell them at Target also. Your suggestion of brand erosion is laughable - have you never shopped at Wal-mart? Everyone I know has, even the millionaires.

  • Can Apple Withstand the Financial Sector's Fall? [View article]
Apple has enough cash to survive several years with no revenue and no layoffs, they own over half the recorded music industry, they are a big threat to Microsoft, as well as Sony and Nintendo in mobile gaming - I can't think of a safer investment or a company with a brighter future.
