Understanding the Rise and Fall of Urban Economies [View article]
Ryan sure wrote a very long version of the description of the results of nafta, wta, and corporate greed leading to outsoursing of most of our manufacturing. Which lead to more than 17 million us citizens out of work and/or under employed. Who, by the way, are NOT paying the taxes needed to run this country. YES, I simplify. But so did Einstein. Happpy new year from this old retiree.

Do a study on ohms law and you will find that cars cannot store enough kw's to run very far. But, then they can be charged overnight from a coal burning powerhouse. Then! when you have to replace all those batteries. $$$$$$$$$$.$$
To help fix the economy, first get rid of All of those fuzzy, complicated, bundled, speculated, financial instruments which brought down the large fin. institutions. Then get rid of All of the market equities that are not backed by something of Real value. Ban every fund that does not invest in real assets. Forget , shorts, indexes, derivatives, etc. Any investment should be a part of something real. Throw out SPECULATORS! Step two, Take LARGE steps to return living wage jobs back to the United States. When the general population makes a living, the economy prospers. Could go on, but will hush, for I know it's an exersize in futility.

Alcohol Can Be a Gas: Debunking Myths About Ethanol [View article]
As an old, retired racing car driver. We ran our cars on Methanol. the supplier claimed it was produced from citris fruit orchard droppings. The main reasons we used methanol were, the engine ran cooler and had more HP per gallon. The drawbacks are, cost per gallon, and fuel mileage. On a carborated motor, we resized the main jets by three. On fuel injection the fuel jet was approx. two times gas jet. Yes there are viable alternative fuels. All we have to do is---DO IT!
There is only one way for the U.S. to get out of debt. PUT America (not China) back to work at living wage jobs. The income taxes alone would pay the debt off rapidly. Of course, our New World Order, is not going to allow this.
We lost a HUGE amount of jobs by our government giving tax breaks and other incentives to manufacturers to move their operations out of the US. By the people and for the people? I don't think so!
Chance of a Depression Now 5 Percent [View article]
My, how we like to complicate things! All of this talk, statisitcs, percentages, etc. The facts are, A persons employment And pay scale is central to the financial success of our country as a whole. Gainfully employed people, pay more taxes, and purchase more of Everything! they are NOT receiving unemployment checks, do not belong to the undergroung economy, are not receiving ANY benefits paid by government (our) moneys, have their own retirement plans, pay for their own health insurance, and generally their only debt is an affordable house payment and or car payment. Today, less than 40% of US citizens are in this group. Yesterday, I went to sears to purchase a battery charger. Interstate brand, made in china. I refused the purchase even though it was on sale. I will keep looking for one made here so some of us can keep their job. Pay their taxes, etc.
Dan Rastler - We Need Cheap Energy Storage [View article]
We have had cheap energy storage for years, even decades. Some of them are used just for standby & backup. they are also the absolute cheapest way to generate power. Once built, the prime mover is FREE. Instead of building new ones, there is a movement on dismanteling some of them. It is simply, HYDROELECTRIC.
