not sure that any economy that is built on exports can do much more than suffer more than their customer when their main customer is crashing. its hard to sell some thing to some one else if they quit buying.

and it would appear likely that Americans may have stopped being the world's consumer. if so, then its a really bad thing for exporters as they will need to build their own domestic consumption. or suffer even more
