DOE Report: Lithium-ion Batteries Are Not Ready for Prime Time [View article]
Good article and great comments. With the temperance of such technology you basically have a small climate conducive to this type of alternative use. Between the cold which depleats a battery's energy as temps drop exponentially and on the opposite side ,heat, which is also detrimental to battery life as the temp increases beyond the efficiency range. Great speech.. now what do we do??

The divit brings up a great point. I looked at the Hybrid Denali for 09. It gets arounf 22 MPG all the time. The Denali with the larger engine gets 19 on the road and 14-16 in the city. And there is no worries about longevity, disposal, ect. The mileage is not that significant...to me... but the battery pack? How long does it last? When it is done.. who replaces it and at what cost to the consumer.? The dealership did not or could not answer those pertinent questions at that time.. 6 months prior. These are concerns I have. Now the rub.. the late model cars are not the first cars ever designed with electricity functioning as the main source of power but the with the lack of answers coming from this dealership I dealt with you would think the wheel was just invented.
