The Oil Casino: SEC Heading for Monte Carlo, Part III [View article]
In a 1954 class at San Jose State I remember a PhD geology professor telling us that he was sure at projected usage rates that the world would be essentially out of oil by the year 2000. I am still waiting!!

Speculators Stabilize Oil Prices: Here's Proof [View article]
God bless speculators !! I imagine without their efforts that oil could have doubled during the first 4 months of this year, on declining demand! Why don't we allow speculators to control the price of milk, HIV drugs, etc.? Think of the "good works" they could perform for us!!

It's very discouraging to read that the BLM doesn't plan to complete the environmental impact analysis until the end of 2010 (although they started last year)! I worked for the federal government for 30 years and can tell you that this translates to late 2011 at the earliest, allowing for the usual 30%-50% time overrun (similar to cost overruns). Yet I can't think of a valid higher priority for the BLM, given President Obama's pronouncements and given the importance of these new jobs for the economic recovery! I'm sure the BLM would blame the legal and other barriers that the environmental groups have created over the years. However, this is when you go to the boss (the President) and tell him you need some jawboning and other support!!
Say what you will about China, but in China Bernie Madoff would have already received the "9mm solution" for his terrible crimes that brought such pain and worry for thousands!!!
