  • Why The Next Correction Could Come In The First Quarter [View article]
Joe, you neglected to mention that not only was the Prescription drug act rushed through Congress, not even read by a majority of Congress but it disallows Medicare to negotiate drug prices with the Pharmaceutical companies.

  • Herbalife Is Showing Great Signs Of Weakness [View article]
00710 I think the FTC will drag their feet. In my opinion the FTC has a hot potato in that a lot of money from the MLMs is going into pac funds and the recipients of those donations know what they are supposed to urge the FTC to do which is "nothing". Of course this leaves the FTC in somewhat of sensitive position because if they do nothing there are others in Congress, Ackman and the public at large that will scream "foul". Now that HLF appears to be 'on the ropes' it would please the FTC if The Market makes the problem go away and that may take some time.

  • Rocky Horror Puts 'Bostwick' In Perspective: Herbalife Remains Inherently Flawed [View article]
icahn1 I think the stock will get hammered tomorrow unless there is a broad rally lifting all sectors.

I agree, HLF is probably little different from all the rest of the MLMs out there and hopefully the FTC will come in with a ruling that shuts them all down.

Oops 6269751, HLF down 13% after hours, you can't beat the house (who ever that is) but for sure one can get burned trying to catch a falling knife.
    Are you averaging down?

Battle of Britain 1940: where was the US?

D day fact, a little over 40% of those hitting the beach were Americans.

Yes, the US had a critical role in winning WW2 but they did not "win" it.

  • How Much Longer Will Herbalife Be Allowed To Mock The FTC? [View article]
RJM2 I have been saying essentially the same thing for a long time. Of course the wealth destroyed will be those few at the top of the pyramids. I guess the FTC could rationalize that by saying its a comparatively few people but the other side of the coin is that those at the top of the pyramid are the ones that have the money to give noticeable donations to Congressional financial food trough or schmooze with members of the FTC. I think HLFs guilt should have been an open and shut case and the fact the FTC hasn't made a move means they are still hoping it will blow over, after all you see less articles pro or con about HLF, and they can absolve HLF without much hue and cry.

Frank did you buy back your short positions and go long HLF? If I recall correctly its not that long ago you were beating the "HLF is clearly a pyramid scheme and needs to be shut down" drum.

  • Tesla Motors loses battle in Michigan [View news story]
The Governor was being objective when he signed the bill. Not signing it would have been the end of his political career, the big-bucks auto manufactures would have shut down campaign contributions to his 'war chest' and campaigned against any political office he ever wanted to hold in the future. The Auto-workers union would have done the same and I suspect the general public in Michigan feel a bit protective toward big Auto.
    Gutless? No, just practical.

Great profit (+10.5%) in a years trading the recommended ETFs in a tracking portfolio. I am not sure by how much but the profit would have been more had I included dividends.
    Thanks Scott

  • The Elephant In The Room: Why The FTC Is Taking So Long To Investigate Herbalife [View article]
I choose the author's reason #1 of why the FTC is taking so long:
"the FTC is either on the horn of an existential dilemma from which it is seeking to escape". The other option is that the FTC is completely rewriting law related to MLMs which will burn all of them, I can't see that happening. I would guess that for every Congressman wanting the FTC to investigate HLF there are twenty getting campaign donations from MLMs to put pressure on the FTC to find a way to make a decision that will not blow-up the MLM business model.
I hope to be proven wrong!
