Market Nosedive Pushes Dollar Down

It is certainly too early to call a bottom IMO.

I'd much rather just sit on the sidelines and watch this situation play itself out for a while. Jumping in and committing a significant amount of capital, with all of the uncertainty howling through the markets, seems like a total gamble at this stage.

If I see one more person on TV breathlessly calling a bottom, I'm going to scream. How can anyone possibly predict a bottom with something new exploding on an almost daily basis?

I don't think that the worst is behind us.

A great deal of the consumer spending over the past number of years was derived from people extracting the equity from their rapidly-increasing real estate investments. Even if the housing market "stabilizes", where is that spending going to come from? The labor market may strengthen, but many people are still going to be upside-down in their homes for years to come and reluctant to spend.

In my opinion, this is a situation that is going to take many years to play itself out.
