  • BlackBerry: A Successful Turnaround? [View article]
Have you been recently on the iPhone/iOS forums?? obviously not. They're infested with unbelievable complaints about many core features in iOS.

    Same goes for Android.

Yet, hasn't stopped these two from owning the market, because OVERALL the user experience is satisfying.

  • BlackBerry: Z10 Likely To Fail, Q10 And Q5 Give Hope [View article]
    Ashraf -

Disappointing article. You're usually much more thorough than that. You are obviously entitled to your own take on these devices, however, the data you used as basis is seriously flawed.

You can pick up a BB Z10 on Amazon TODAY for $49 with a 2-year contract with Verizon.

    a Q10 will set you back $99 with a 2-year contract.(VZW)

Both are still way cheaper than a Galaxy S4 which goes for $149-$179 with a 2-year contract. (VZW)

So - these devices are already priced as mid-tier (if not lower) and at a very attractive levels.

Lastly, since when were hardware specs the deciding factor in purchases?? I'm sure you're familiar with the tag line: "it's the software - stupid!"

While BBRY is not offering (yet, A10 coming in a few months) the hardware specs of the S4 - it's irrelevant as long as the OS runs efficiently and offers a good user experience.

There have been several articles from PCMag and others very recently comparing BB10 and iOS7 - and most of them favor BB10, especially for professionals - which is BBRY's target audience.

You might want to re-think your point of view on the Z10 and upcoming touch-only BB10 devices.

  • BlackBerry: Shorts Increase, Longs Wait Patiently [View article]
I think one of the most, if not most, important number to watch is # of subscribers. BBRY needs the down trend to at least slow down if not
reverse itself, or the shorts will have a big party on this issue alone.

In other words, any beat on EPS and revenues will be drastically offset by another big drop in # of subscribers.

  • BlackBerry Will Surprise: Forecasting June Earnings [View article]
Just saw some big TV ads from AT&T showcasing the Samsung S4, iPhone5 and BlackBerry Z10 - all in the same ad, so the last comment might be true (advertise once the product is on the shelf).

Looks like the author stopped reading the comments too.

Note to author: when you get caught with your pants down its best to apologize like grown adults do and retract what you said.

Trying to defend your obviously poorly researched and baseless article ensures no one will want to read your stuff in the future and no respect from the community.

  • BlackBerry: The Next Catalyst [View article]
It's selling for $149.99 on wirefly.com but so did the Samsung GS3
right after launch. The contract prices are not indicators of demand since the real pay back is the contract itself. The real measure is unlocked prices - and these are holding up nicely around $600 on Amazon and eBay.

  • An Explanation For BlackBerry's Short Interest Spike [View article]
Or it could be much simpler than that and closer to basics : despite the progress the company seem to be making, there is a growing number of investors that don't believe it will make it in the long run.

  • BlackBerry Has Taken A Licking, But Will Keep On Ticking [View article]
I think there's a very good possibility the new BB CMO who's joined less than a year ago had no idea who he was dealing with!

There's a very good reason AT&T comes last in customer satisfaction every year for the past 5! They stink as a company.

Goldman Sachs seems to estimate more or less in line with your first column projection: $3.13B in revenue and -0.23c/share.

I personally think they will beat both!

    Good article - thanks.

  • More on BlackBerry: Lenovo buyout speculation has picked up again thanks to remarks made by Lenovo (LNVGY.PK) CEO Yang Yuanqing to a French paper. "As for BlackBerry, the [acquisition] could possibly make sense. But first I have to analyze the market well and understand what is the exact weight of this company." CFO Wong Dai suggested in January his company is open to buying BlackBerry (BBRY +9.1%), but Lenovo later downplayed those remarks. [View news story]
Jaberwock - there's a HUGE difference between an oil company and a company like BB that has data centers and classified govt communications going through these centers. That's where the national security risk is.

Here's a relevant article that came out today on the Chinese military attempts to hack in to the U.S. Govt: http://nyti.ms/Xk57Ny
