MrAllister - what's the point of comparing the OLD BB to the iPhone?? we all know the old BB wasn't modernized, but let's see what Obama

Michael - great article and thanks for getting into some of the technical stuff that not understood at all by most on wall street.

"(Google Maps with navigation runs beautifully!) "

Where/how did you get this app?

    Thanks!

    EXACTLY!!!

All signs are that several million new BB10's will be sold around the world in the next quarter - and that's plenty for BB to secure #3 in the smartphone market and increase their share steadily from hereon = share price going up!

Alejandro - you just blew up your own theory suggesting the stock will close higher tomorrow.

Then what is your basis for shorting tomorrow?

    Marcap,

"The bad news today for Apple is equally bad new for RIM. What it signifies is that there is a global cutback in higher end products. "

This is a huge presumption and even bigger missed assessment of what's transpiring in the smartphone space. If anything, higher end handsets are selling better than ever - example: Samsung GS3 and their NoteII.

The bad news for Apple today is bad news for Apple, and great news for all other players. Apple didn't sell as many handsets because consumers are tired of their expensive yet stagnant, unexciting product.

And conversely, consumers are very excited about RIM getting back in the game with what looks like a very innovative new generation smartphone.

  • Is RIM Ready To Become A Smartphone Leader Again? [View article]
Let me jump in here and agree with you. Anyone that thinks that 100,000+ apps is a liability doesn't understand the market or mobile users.

As long as mobile users can find the popular mobile apps whether games or social networks, how many apps in total the marketplace has is irrelevant.

There are probably no more than a few hundreds must have apps - if those or the majority of them are available on the RIMM marketplace - then this will not be an issue for users and then its about functionality and features - where I have no doubt whatsoever that RIMM will make the iPhone look like a toy for 5 year olds. (heck, my 5 year old BB still has features that even the iPhone 5/iOS6 do not have. It's joke as a phone).

  • Could RIM See $20 On BlackBerry 10 Launch? [View article]
Very true and many analysts forget that Windows Phone has NEVER been able to get that many loyal fans so it's still starting from scratch compared to RIM.

You might be right. On the other hand, no one expected RIMM to lose market share as quick as they did. So everything is possible, IMO.

I believe it's ultimately the user experience and app ecosystem that will win in the long run.

E.g., Since I gave up my BB phone 3 years ago - I still miss the excellent typing experience and some features I had that are STILL missing from iOS6.

The typing experience on Android is way better than iOS since you can pick and chose what keyboard you want and those include Swype-type keyboard which are much faster to type on.

if the new BB10 virtual keyboard can offer a better typing experience than those two - there's a ton of users that will want it.

    Same goes for features.

So, as the saying goes "it's the software, stupid". Apple won their market share because iOS was innovative when it came out and the device was cool. It no longer is. It seriously lags behind Android now.

So there's not only room, but a desire amongst users, that someone (any of the existing players or a new one) comes out with a device that wows them (just like the iPhone once did).

Also, not that smartphones have been out for sometime, users are a lot more educated about what they want and what's missing in iOS/Android.

IF BB10 can answer some of these gaps (and some of the leaked features suggest they do) - it will be a winner and put BB on the map again.

So anything is possible but one thing is for sure: If you're in this stock (long or short) - you better be watching like a hawk.

    Jimmy,

As the stock price goes up it has a lot more to go down again?

And at $6/share the company was valued at rock bottom compared to it's assets etc. now at $14+ there's a lot more reason to question the valuation...

    Hopes this helps.

Anyone can make blunt statements like yours and offer nothing to back them up. What value do your statement have for anyone in this thread without some rational? NONE.

You know the saying: "Opinions are like A...holes - everyone has one". Now we know you have one too. Bravo.
