An interesting article. However "the cloud" consists primarily of vague marketing spiels as shown here. A recent study showed that cloud computing is actually MORE expensive for larger corporations. And let's not forget that cloud computing is still the poor brother of any dedicated network application in terms of true performance.
The one thing these spiels all have in common are the "fear factor" approach to proselytizing the concept of cloud computing : "Quick! get on train now! Or it will be TOO LATE for you and your IT organization!!!" What this really is about is yet another effort to drive IT purchasing into another black-hole, unproven solution at huge cost (and great benefit to providers of software and hardware). Oh yes. Let's not forget the despite the extravagant claims, cloud computing is really a rebranding of co-location services with some addtional management tools which are (mostly) still in development and unproven. For corporations with huge transactional requirements and critical performance? I don't think so.
