DAL/NWA: Proposed Merger So Large, Yet It's Worth Less Than Yahoo [View article]
An industry such as Google is not comparable to a sector so fuel and labor intensive as an airline company . .Only if evolving circumstances provide the airlines sufficient pricing power to sustainably meet escalating costs can there be any normalization of market value . bocacassidy@yahoo.com
Lest there be any doubt ...This merger will be completed ....with or without the concurrence of the pilots .....The NWA pilots will find themselves effectively on a quasi " B scale " status until the seniority is integrated either by mutual negotiation or imposed arbitration ....a temporary but signifigant irritant Everyone ...investors as well as employees ...have a great deal at stake ..The whole airline industry , along with rest of the economy is on very thin ice.... If pilot conflict were to lead towards another bankruptcy, the pilots would have more to worry over than their precise seniority . I remain confident that common sense will prevail ...The seniority issue will be resolved .....to the dissatisfaction of nearly every pilot- but with a future of greater prosperity and security for nearly all I say nearly ... because some cutbacks may be inevitable . Even the intrepid CEO Richard Anderson has no control over the global economy I have worked for three airlines (Eastern ,Panam and Delta).. All of them went bankrupt ..but DELTA bounced back like the phoenix from the ashes.... The NWA - DAL team will be a dynamic global giant ! bocacassidy@yahoo.com
Will Delta Agree to Northwest's Offer Without Pilot Consent? [View article]
Some excellent points have been displayed ...The bankers and creditors demand that a fully globalized airline be formed from DAL and NWA components ...If the pilots can't reach a rational agreement...The combo will be done by some other means ...eg a sale/ transfer of the additional PAC routes to Delta...or a massive furlough prior to a conventional merger (DC-9s...retired...150... pilots - gone ...etc.) The only question is precisely what will happen - and how soon....With a $ billion infusion being dangled by KLM/AF...the financiers will not accept "no' for an answer The ALPA should cooperate quickly and reasonably , lest the pilots take a severe hammering ...The Industry is in a state of siege There is very little latitude for union power posturing
