  • What I Want To See In Nokia's Q2 Report [View article]
I think, what you will see is Nokia 1020 move into first place. That will solve the cash problem and balance sheet. Better platform for business people, most pictures with cellphones are not to good.
Nice to be able to move a picture and not have to explain what it is.

  • Feel Like Making A Bold Tech Play? Go Long With Microsoft [View article]
I purchased a Windows 8 pc this week. Took me the day to get used to the apps layout and where stuff was. To me once I moved out of that to the desktop layout it was the same as Win 7. Me not being a apps user I was surprised how easy it was to figure it out. I purchased it mostly to see what all the talk was about. I run Win 7 on my other 2 systems as well and also run Linux Mint along side them.

My interest mostly is how will the buying public feel about it as my major interest is MSFT stock. I'm pretty old so don't see my age group jumping on board but if the young generation adapts to it, this could be a long term winner. Time will tell....

  • Microsoft Needs Heavy Marketing For Windows 8 Devices [View article]
Time will tell, I'm long of both Nok & MSFT. Each of them has a lot at stake, so I'm expecting 110 percent effort from both to make it happen.
No excuses, a problem, address it and fix right away. I like Microsoft but I also use Linux and have used Apple. I like to play and tinker with my systems, Windows offers me that and pc products offer me choices. Apple not so much, what you see is what you get. Good product but way over priced in my opinion.

  • Sterne Agee continues to believe precious metal equities are "underowned and underpriced," and calls Newmont Mining (NEM), Coeur d'Alene (CDE) and Gold Resource (GORO) its sector favorites. The firm says gold miners have emphasized to investors an increased attention on appropriate returns on and of investor capital, helping gold equities to earn positive beta vs. the metal. [View news story]
That would be a nice change of pace for mining stocks.

  • Up initially after striking a patent-purchase deal with Nokia (NOK +4.5%), Vringo (VRNG -3.5%) has sold off to $3.32. The fact Vringo will be financing the deal with a $31.2M stock offering featuring a sale price of $3.25/share is a likely reason why. Nokia, however, is holding onto most of its gains - investors probably care less about the deal per se than the fact it shows Nokia is serious about its stated plans to better monetize its IP. I believe I'll remain happy I loaded up on this stock.

  • China may have a population of 1.3B and Australia just 22M, but it is the latter that provides more revenues for GE and on which its shifting its focus. Whereas China is difficult to deal with, Australia has a free market and a reliable legal system, so it's just so much easier. And being full of resources, it provides GE with plenty of opportunity.  [View news story]
I'll second hwoodoo7's comment. China is not our friend. The Aussies would be far more beneficial to GE and its stockholders.
