  • Peter Schiff Says Gold Might Hit $5,000, Prudent Portfolios Have Some Gold Exposure [View article]
have you ever actually listened to peter schiff, he is a permabear. He has been calling for us stocks to drop the past 20 years, so he did call the housing bubble because he is always forecasting doom and gloom, he is really bias.

  • Whole Foods Market Faces A Short-Term Threat [View article]
I agree there is hardly any overlap between the two sets of customers. Existing Walmart customers may buy more organic and they may get some new customers from Kroger/meijer but I don't see alot of Whole foods customers switching.

  • 3 Quick Rules Of Thumb To Determine A Strong Business [View article]
i kind of like this approach as ROA, ROE and debt/equity on their own can be tricky when a company is buying back their own stock which would make all 3 ratios increase. Why do you just use LT debt why not total debt?

  • Will Nokia Double Again? [View article]
this has got to be the most generic article you could possibly come up with on Nokia and a month before their phone business is going to get sold.

  • Equity/Fixed Income Momentum - July 2013 [View article]
thanks for the great articles on momentum strategies. have you read sam stovall's book "seven rules of wall street" he has some momentum strategies in the book. one strategy he talked about was whatever s&p sector etf performed the best over the past year you would buy that etf the next month, and change accordingly every month. similar to the strategy you mention but based on whatever performed over the past 1 year period not the past month. have you looked at using different time periods for switching back between the bond and s&p etf? thanks.

  • 4 Undervalued Stocks: We Like These In An Overbought Stock Market [View article]
tulip - cash flows and net income will always be different. net income includes many non-cash items such as depreciation & bad debt expense. On the operating cash flows you take net income and add- back the non cash items. then you account for the changes to the balance sheet items. there are many ways cash flows could be higher than net income. ex. if AR went down 1 billion that would be a 1 billion increase to cash flows but no effect to net income. exact opposite with AP. note that operating cash flow is different than free cash flow as it doesn't include investing & financing activities like purchase of fixed assets, debt or stock transactions.

  • Robert Shiller: Don't Invest In Housing [View article]
i agree - The difference with real estate investing is you can leverage your purchase 10-1. If prices go up you can make alot of money on you investment and of course lose alot, but you cant get that kind of leverage in a etrade account. of course real estate transactions prices are a huge downfall, while you can buy and sell a stock for $10.

Starbucks doesn't make any claims that you will lose weight, cure your cancer/diabetes or any other misleading health benefits when you drink their coffee

  • Forget Herbalife; Blyth Is The Real MLM Steal [View article]
i hope herbalife gets prosecuted but the fact that they can claim they employ thousands of people with the unemployment rate so high, I think it will be a long time. i had a friend try to sell me the zija marango tree drink a few years back. It was supposed to be the miracle supplement and he thought he was going to make tons of money. Now he is embarrased to even bring up that he brought into the drink and is obviously not selling it anymore. I feel like most people in america realize herbalife is a joke, but i'm sure they have alot of suckers they can access in new countries that have not had any experience with mlms.

  • The Bear Case For Best Buy In One Simple Chart [View article]
I get that online shopping is convenient and quicker but its not really cheaper when you add in the shipping cost and now in most states amazon has to collect sales tax. Is there a reason best buy's website can't compete with amazon's? Is it really that much cheaper to buy a tv on amazon.com compared to bestbuy.com?

  • After A 25% Gain On Coach In 45 Days, Is There Further Upside? [View article]
I may be thinking to much into the Chinese protests against Japan. But you would think that the Chinese consumer might not think very highly of the coach brand if they knew how popular the coach brand is in Japan.
Don't know if you have any thoughts on this.
I have had a long position in coach since June 2009.
