  • Buy Caterpillar Today On The Double Bottom [View article]
It doesn't qualify as a double bottom unless there's a second bottom (there isn't yet) followed by a break through of resistance which would be around $91. Even then you'd look for a retest of that Breakout before a continuation of the new uptrend. Until then its in a downtrend and has been for the past six months. You're really too aggressive right now when more downside is possible and now you (or your readers) are risking getting stopped out of the trade before it even begins...

  • Time To Short The S&P 500? [View article]
Now's as good a time as any. If this uptrend has meat than $138.30 on the pullback. Lower than that and I think it instills doubt. Below $135.50 puts the bears back in charge. But it's hitting strong resistance now not to mention other indicators that strongly caution at least a short-term reversal very soon.

The only thing I'd say about the comment "the market is smarter than you and does what it wants" is that it makes it sound like the market is a video game or some type of computer that runs off complex algorithms. It's not; the market is simply a mirror of American psychology at the present time based on human emotions and human psychological inflections. Am I a psychologist? No. But I'll make a trade any day of the week based on psychology as opposed to even considering one based on chance.

  • Time To Short The S&P 500? [View article]
My mistake in the timing was that I could have and should have waited to see if SPY/IWM would test resistance or the upper end of their trading channel which currently is sloped up on both. But I didn't have big expectations for the Fed, ECB or unemployement so I took a gamble and jumped the gun. Nonetheless, look at transports and retail specifically. Both those areas are extremely weak which more often than not is a strong sign of bearish tendencies in the market. You can also look at option contracts being traded. Not too many put contracts being written right now because of the uncertainty. And as I said before, when the stocks are good, bonds don't see growth. Tell me why the markets been trending up along with bond. Lastly, look at the up days in SPY recently. Low volume. Buying pressure is weak. Where is the demand to drive these greater prices?

I took short positions on SPY and IWM last week and though I've watched as my entry strategy clearly could've used some work I've nonetheless been confident the overall trade would turn a respectable profit. From a technical standpoint alone the US markets at the present time are like playing Jenga on a boat in a hurricane; there's no substance to the rallies. Treasuries have grown along with bonds, the small and mid caps remain weak. You just don't see the rotation from the safer-haven large-caps to the riskier smaller equities. That in itself is a clear signal this is a market of anxiety and nervousness and will be for quite some time. One would be extremely smart to keep a tight noose on profits and caution on new positions.

  • Time To Buy This Specialty Retailer [View article]
The BBY was a typo. The comparisons were done using BBBY so the comment remains. I just don't think it's strong right now nor a smart acquisition. BBBY is a purchase you make when the markets are healthy and you can get in on the beginning of an uptrend. I just personally feel better choices can be made in other sectors; namely Health and Energy which currently are showing the most strength.

    - Oh, and apologies for the confusion. Thanks for catching that.

  • Time To Buy This Specialty Retailer [View article]
No one is overreacting to BBY news. Are you aware of what's occuring with specialty retailers right now? They're all getting hammered. This sub sector is extremely weak amongst consumer discretionary and against the market itself.

It's not BBY's fundamentals that bother investors. It's the fact no one is willing to take on risk in the market. Look around and compare the sub sectors to others. The market's been in defensive mode since May and that's not changing.

Your numbers may be correct and perhaps BBY will be a good investment piece in the next several months or so.

However, until the market shows they're willing to start taking on risks again, I don't see BBY performing any better than your common savings account.

And encouraging writing put options on this is just ridiculous. If anything I'd be purchasing put options on this piece or, at least to protect myself, work a straddle.

  • The Problem With Facebook: Mark Zuckerberg Is Unfixable [View article]
"At the end of the day, public corporations have a fiduciary duty to make money for their shareholders."

Absolutely incorrect and blind. At the end of the day, corporations duty is to make products consumers want in a way consumers need and at a price consumers are willing to pay. Do that and the shareholders will come and be happy.

The problem with Facebook is all the "investors" and wanna-be lottery winners thought they had a winning ticket because everyone was hyping the IPO. And, ultimately, you lost because you did the one thing you should never do - bought the greed.

  • Sirius XM : Q2 Subs Give Strong Support To Skyrocketing Share Price [View article]
Yes, and SIRI, like most other equities, don't like to ride the upper and lower bands which is additional evidence of a pullback. Again, I could be wrong. My personal preference in a situation like this is to allow the stock to come to me, not chase it. And for me I think the evidence yells for me to be patient. Can't lose money holding a cash position.

I actually like SIRI right now to make an advance. My only suggestion is for investors to wait for the pullback. Be patient. One should never jump in the middle or end of an uptrend.

  • Sirius XM : Q2 Subs Give Strong Support To Skyrocketing Share Price [View article]
I do and do well, thank you. I'm not against anyone riding out the downswings. My only caution to investors is to wait. Look at the previous two days of trading. Both highs got shot down immediately. There are numerous other indicators showing a temporary weakness is looming such as the RSI and FSO. After any big swing there is always a pullback and in one highly-traded equity such as SIRI this can be expected as well.

If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But the chart speaks volumes. And a retrace to the $2 mark is highly likely.

And, BTW, I don't comment much on stocks on this site. But when I do, I do have a pretty good track record. See my past comments. For the commentor below who says I was bearish on SIRI back then - you'd be wise to note that was on May 25. SIRI lost 6% over the next month.

Thanks for reminding me how "bad" I am...

Don't be suprised to see a drop back to $2 (even lower) for short-term losses of 5-9% this week. The smart money will lock in profits very quickly. The charts scream it.

  • Arena Pharmaceuticals: How Good Can It Get? [View article]
Reading all these articles and comments on ARNA is like "Jersey Shore, the Wall Street Edition". When ARNA does move whichever direction after Wednesday then the group on the positive side will claim they knew it all along and vice versa. It's a joke and speculation at best and for anyone to suggest they have a grasp on it before hand is delusional. Enjoy your volatile, stomach-churning ride over the next few days - I'll stick with trading equities that are more predictable and return greater profits.

  • The Thing About Sprint [View article]
I love the "unlimited" argument. Seems people fail to realize that even though Sprint claims they don't tether, they tether. I can be sitting in my office listening to Pandora one day then the next get the all-dreadful "buffering". Is that not enough? My girlfriend is on Verizon and we can be right next to each other as she pulls up Facebook almost immediately while I sit there and watch the twirling "Loading" figure.

The only reason I'm still with Sprint is because of their "unlimited" even though I know it's not. Plus, everytime it's close to the end of my contract, I can get a brand new Samsung smart phone for free (years of "loyalty").

But, make no mistake, when Sprint drops "unlimited", and they will, I'll be joining my lady on Verizon.

  • Westport Innovations Made A 23% Gain In 10 Days - Now's Your Second Chance [View article]
Understood; the comment was in relation to the performance against not just the market but the sector and subsector performance as well. 30%-plus losses over two months seems "louder" rather than just "beta".

    Thanks though.
