  • Are FedEx and UPS Being Diminished Digitally? [View article]
Your article may be relevant to FEDEX, I have no idea what their mix is in products offered. However, I do know that UPS is not nearly as dependent on document and printed matter as you state. Long ago when FEDEX thought logistics was a losing proposition UPS embraced it with gusto. It is those hard items that can't be transported by electronics that is UPS's forte. UPS has been in the business of transporting goods since 1908. They got into the document express business in the late eighties. I think you will see this expressed in the numbers they put up today for their fourth quarter of 2008.

  • Financial Warning to the U.S. Government [View article]
Want a "fair tax"? One that spreads the liability and pain around equally? Then I suggest a flat 20% income tax along with a national sales tax. Let the people who demand the most resources pay for them with the sales tax. Let the 40 or so million that are paying no income tax help support this nation. It gets a little aggravating to see people checking out at the grocery with food stamps that are eating better than you can afford when you are working your ass off trying to make ends meet. Put a boot in the ass of the sit-on-your-ass crowd in this country and you will not have any fiscal problems. It's because of this same gang of loafers and deadbeats that we are in the financial straits that we are in now, what with the sub-prime giveaway loans to these parasites. Of course, if you are buying your election with these vermin, you just promise them more goodies and perpetuate the problem. LBJ, I hope you're miserable in your grave, now that we are faced what your "Great Society" welfare state has wrought.

  • The Advantage of Net Payout Yields [View article]
Excellent advice. I have always held that share buyback programs should be taken in to account when evaluating a particular stock. As these shares are taken off the market your shares become more valuable, it's nothing more than dilution in reverse. A look at real numbers is helpful too as opposed to percentages. (i.e.) Would you rather have 50% of $10.00 or 10% of $100.00? This is especially true when looking at increases in sales and profits. When an article says that a company has a 10% sales or profit increase, look to see 10% of what!
