Pardon the math...old brain here....the watering of the stock after earlier stating they were going to do the 2 ships with cash and debt put them on Red Flag status with me. I am way under also but up until now was pretty cool because I could see how the were really doing a great job in the circumstances. The insiders bought 5 mil of the new shares. If some how they pay the dividend we will be just fine. Best.

I have followed SBLK for a couple years and have stock. Seems to me they are really pressed for cash. They had about 63 million shares out recently but have issued more stock to help pay for two boats. They will have 80,358,360 shares out after the new issue. One might want to wait and see what kind of dividend they declare before investing. It used to cost them 12+million a year to do the .05 dividend quarterly for the year. Now it will cost 20+million to do the same. There is a lot going on with this company and in general I feel good about its management. However they surprised us with the new share offering.

Thanks for a great article. SCCO has been in my portfolio for some time. The down trend is precipitous .... not sure why....the Co. did predict a copper price of $4 for the year. This morning declared a dividend of 56cents a share paid in May. Have had a set back in future operations as the new mine in Peru in not going to happen. That asset can still be sold so all is not lost. There were some deaths in the situation so the Co. may have political problems in Peru. Perhaps thats the cloud over this stock.

"When you limit participation in the governance of an entity to a few like-minded institutions or individuals who have an interest in keeping competitors out, you have the potential for bad things to happen. It’s antitrust 101" said Robert E. Litan, who helped oversee the Justice Department’s Nasdaq investigation as deputy assistant attorney general.

Derivatives affect the prices we pay and to allow the big banks unfair profits is just another sad day for the American people.
