  • Pres. Obama signs an executive order tightening sanctions against Iran, expanding the power to punish anyone conducting transactions using any payment method including bartering to purchase or acquire Iranian crude oil. Waivers authorized under the existing Iran sanctions law still apply under the new order.  [View news story]
Interesting thoughts! BTW, where are these Fema camps being set up? Where do I go to find the current list?

  • Dimon on CIO activities: JPM has suffered a $2B loss in the synthetic credit portfolio. "The strategy was flawed ... There were many errors, sloppiness, and bad judgment ... risk managers are fully engaged in helping to monitor the current portfolio." He goes on to say volatility could remain high over coming quarters and could cost the bank another $1B.  [View news story]
Excellent! At least someone sees the "big picture" and understands the past, present and future! Put the responsibility and root of the problem where it is!

  • A Congressional panel has found that the U.S. has misspent $31B-$60B on contracting for services in Iraq and Afghanistan, due to waste, fraud and abuse. The panel has urged Congress to strengthen oversight, including with the creation of a permanent inspector general.  [View news story]
This is absurd! Rather than create another inspector (which could/ would not monitor effectively), get the money back! It is setting in someone's money account! This is another example of gross abuse by the government and no one doing their job!

  • Now's the time to pick up some Nvidia (NVDA) shares, writes Barron's Jay Palmer. • The Real Unemployment Numbers [View article]
Nay, Nay.....Our government (politicians that are in positions paid by our tax dollars and supposed to be conducting the "will of the people") have always told us what they wanted us to believe. Unfortunately, majority of citizens do not exercise the ability to think for themselves, do reseach, look at their everyday obvious fact of living, and follow like sheep,( "or take advantage of the "free for nothing mentality".) The minority of middle class tax payers have always financed the "sheep", but now that the "boomers" are having to re-think retirement, (due to all things beyond their control), it certainly makes me wonder who's going to carry the weight for the future years! As someone wrote in another article, this is not the US our forefathers built! Scary to think how this will all end!
