Herbalife: Shattering The Personal Consumption Myth

Matt, it's not a case of dist's vs leaders. It's not a cut throat business. It has so much to do with relationships. There are millions of people in this country and plenty of room for everyone (even you :-). All an Herbalife distributor has to do is develop a small base of about 20 customers. From there, they can focus on teaching someone else how to develop & maintain their own base of 20 customers. Someone new who starts at 25% will not remain at 25% for long if they are truly "working" to build that customer base. If they remain at 25%, then they most definitely signed up to buy at w/s. There will always be people who shop for the best price and I certainly have lost customers now & then to the discounters on the net, but that's just "life". In my previous business before Herbalife, I lost customers to Walmart, so be it.

Herbalife is my f/t career and month after month for 20+ years I "turn over" about $3k-4k+ worth of products. I personally use and love the products myself as do my long term repeat customers, some of who have been with me for over 20 years. The majority of my monthly sales are to non-distributors (outside sales). Every month I submit my 10 customer form to Herbalife and they have periodically audited these forms. They call the customer to question them etc. What company DOES that?? I think it's a ridiculous rule and it almost cost me one of my best customers one time. She was so insulted that Herbalife called her to ask if she had bought from me, she felt that they were implying I had done something wrong, she couldn't understand WHY on earth they would be calling her. I'm sure they were super nice and probably said something like "We are just calling to make sure you have good service etc etc", BUT, it left her "irritated" that they were checking up on me!! Thankfully she's still with me now going on 15 yrs! Why? Because she loves the products and how she feels on the products. It's not about weight loss, it's about feeling a difference, and so many people DO (I know that's very hard for many people to believe, but it's a fact). Could they get similar products elsewhere?... Yes... but many many people DON"T, they stay with Herbalife... Why?.. mabye because of their results... maybe because it's a "brand name" they recognize and trust?... Could be! ... maybe it's because there IS something unique about these products?.. Could be! .. Maybe it's the SERVICE... Could be! (value of service will NEVER go to 0 )

There is incredible loyalty in Herbalife, to the products and to the company. There is incredible trust in the products, the corporate leadership, in Michael Johnson etc. The company is NOT in the "late stages of it's life cycle" ... we have just begun. Just as an aside, since this whole fiasco began, most of my 1000+ organization of supervisors is aware of it and is not phased by it. They/we are offended but most of us know it is hard for most people to understand the whole scope of Herbalife, the products, the business etc. We all wish that you could as Mark Hughes once said to Jim Rohn, "Borrow my (our) eyes".

I am "still" confidently long on HLF :-)

I wish you guys could understand what Herbalife is really about. Like other businesses, we build up a steady base of customers. In my career I have personally sold over 1.4 million in products. The company has paid me over 3 million in Royalties & Bonuses since I started over 20+ yrs ago. Similar to Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Gyms & other health targeted businesses, customers come & go. How many people join a gym and never go?... or go a few times if that. How many people say they're more or less a "lifetime member" of Wt Watchers. I've heard that again and again. Same type of thing happens in Herbalife, people start & stop the products. People "come back" because they remember how "good" they felt. I never started for wt loss, I started on Herbalife for my health and for energy. There are lots of people out there who skip breakfast, or have a coffee & donut, etc etc. Herbalife's shake is SO much better to do. And yes, of course people could go to Walmart or get whatever shake they wanted, but then "why" do they keep calling me to reorder? If you truly want to understand how this company works, how good the products are, call a distributor and get on the products. go visit a nutrition club. You guys have no idea how spectacular our Marketing Plan is. You're thinking we have to recruit tons and tons of people, and it just doesn't work like that. My business has been self sustaining for years. Most successful Herbalifer's have that base of customers (yes, many signed up for the discount, and many don't pay their renewal fees but I don't "stop" giving them their discount. They have not failed and gone away, they are part of my steady business. These are the people that you say are being churned? .. But they never left. Business is business and Herbalife is an amazing business that you can run on a shoestring. My customers fall into 3 categories, some who get on it for a month or two & then stop forever. Others who use it for months, then get lazy about it and fall away from the routine. And the last group are people like me who LOVED it from the start. Those customers are steady repeat customers for years and years and years. All I can tell you is, Herbalife will work with whatever agency they need to to adhere to rules, and they will continue to grow. Millions of lives have been impacted in so many positive ways, health, wealth, lifestyle. Keep researching Herbalife, and in time, you may have a different opionion of us. But I hope you will look deeper than all the "copy paste" info that Ackman reported. He is so off the mark it's not even funny. I am confidently long on Herbalife. :-)
