I think the non-US companies involved would see the best appreciation: higher oil prices combined with appreciation in their local currency against the dollar.

Silver and Gold ETFs: How Do You Measure Their Worth? http://seekingalpha.com/article/141028-silver-and-gold-etfs-how-do-you-measure-their-worth?source=feed#comment-529488 529488
Currently, the US printing presses are probably wearing out from the large amount of production. I agree, it appears that the US is headed that way.

But, in the past, for example in the Weimar Republic, what happened? Germany was a major player in the international markets (to the extent they existed at the time). Did their hyperinflation affect world-wide gold pricing?]]>

I was wondering if there is a log of your 'portfolio' performance somewhere? The area of micro-bio's exploding seems interesting. I just can't tell if there is any logical (repeatable) approach that may work towards an alpha return.

As to the actual conversation, it doesn't appear that the congressman has any cluse what these transactions mean nor does the IG have authority to investigate on such matters.

I agree with the overall tone: Congress (or the public in general) should be able to ask some figurehead at the Treasury exactly what are the transactions involved.

Again, in a public company the footnotes to the quarterly/annual reports would detail what the transactions were and their materiality.]]>
