  • If Stimulus Works, How Come We Need More Of It? [View article]
QE and "stimulus" don't work, they just delay consequences while providing cheap liquidity for the banks.

    FED = Enabling parent

    Banks = wayward dysfunctional children

Taxpayer = Granparents that own the house, the land, and pay all the bills.

  • Xstrata (XSRAY.PK, XSRAF.PK) reported a sharp fall in earnings but emphasizes its stand-alone growth prospects if its prospective merger with Glencore falls through. CEO Mick Davis sees the combined company as a “more powerful business model” but says “the inherent capacity of Xstrata to generate value as a stand-alone company remains very, very powerful." [View news story]

He used "powerful business model" and "inherent value" in the same press release.

  • Friday Failure: China Data So Bad - It's Bad! [View article]
Are you speaking of China, or the U.S.?

Global economies reflated a speculative debt bubble with more speculative debt via central banks versus: sound money, production, and career employment.

That is long term uber-bearish from any angle.

Short term the cotton candy equities casino dings and jingles along.

  • Shares of Wendy's (WEN -3.5%) falter a day after a respectable earnings report. SA author Stock Games crunches the valuation numbers on the stock to conclude that "relatively weak" fundamentals aren't likely to support WEN's current valuations. [View news story]
Considering that I paid almost $4 for a Kid's meal with an Eisenhower Dollar sized hamburger pattie, five french fries, and a Dixie cup sized Frosty - I'm not eager to go back.

Remeber "filter packs" for drip coffee makers?

As things get leaner in the corporate world those expensive machines and coffee packs will be a cost to be cut.

Like Soda Stream, these machines and packs are a fad.

    Long thermal carafes and Folgers.

  • Facebook Needs A Clear Business Plan [View article]
    Haven't you heard?

Their strategy is "Timeline" where stock buyers can at-a-glance see how much money they have lost.

"Timeline" sucks, BTW, and is the beginning of the end for this fad web destination that is being overtaken by mobile.

"Knight Capital set for $400M lifeline"

What does a casino do when one of it's whales has a bad night? Why, extend credit of course. This would be fine if the taxpayers were not ultimately the ones serving the drinks, cleaning the bathrooms, and extending the credit.

"SEC's revolving door strengthens enforcement - study"

Oh sure. So the SEC "Cops" slap the meth dealer with "hefty" $100 fine instead of jail time. That'll show 'em. Nothing better than a revolving door of cops on the take to stop crime, uh-huh.

"CFTC poised to abandon silver probe"

Oy vey. Of course the CFTC couldn't find enough evidence against the J.P. Morgue; does the Police Chief in the pocket of the Mayor ever find enough evidence against the Mayor?

Welcome to Gotham run by the Joker, the Penquin, the Riddler, and the rest of the naughty gang. Batman moved to a beach somewhere far away.

Foxes are guarding the hen house.

Corzine, Mozillo, J.P. Morgue, Goldman Sachs, etc., etc.

The Police Chief knows he has to let the kids of the Mayor or the Mob boss go if one of his cops arrest them.

Money and power have to lose their money and power before they are ever held accountable (or via a good healthy revolution).

I think the French Nobility committed fewer transgressions against their citizens than our new "nobility" in Wall Street and in Washington.

    John and James,

Please relinquish mentioning Rebloodlicans or Demicrips; two gangs who work for themselves and the Kleptoligarchy not you or I.

    Politics is the distraction.

Good points Spald_fr and Old Trader,

The Chinese are busy buying influence and assets the world over.

Many too many willing money grubbers in the U.S. are happy to take their cash and slave labor for short term gains devoid of moral or ethical consequences.

Why is the sale even being allowed? Why do we support a military regime built upon oppression and indentured servitude (slavery)?

Because the U.S. has become a gutless crony regime; rushing pell mell back into the dark ages of Western Civilization.

They took a staid retailer and tried to "Apple" it with "groovy" all lower case glossy ads with no substance and a gay spokesperson.

They turned off their customer base, and the young lemmings did not fall for the "remake".

The absolute wrong (by 180 degrees) image redo. I could have told them that; but I don't snort coke and go to parties in the Hamptons or L.A.
