  • 10 Top Oil and Natural Gas Exporting Countries [View article]
Jerydd says, "We need to put the cost of our Persian Gulf military, oil wars, tax breaks, depletion allowances, sweetheart royalty deals, balance of payments costs in oil so it pays it's way."

Thats a good way to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs too. It wouldn't take much more tax grabbing by the greedy government (who can't even balance their budgets, curb spending) to encourage more corporations like XOM, COP, CVX to move their HQs off to some foreign country, register as a corporation there, and leave US tax burden behind forever. And then, who would the quickly growing Obama debts be paid by??

  • Solar: Our Smallest Source of Power [View article]
The greenies are pushing alternative energy sources real hard now because:
    1) they are invested in those spaces.
    2) they HATE the oil industry. why? Because, the liberal politicos also hate big oil. why? Because, they didn't get much campaign contribution money from them. Witness: Henry Waxman, Edward Markey, authors of the C&T legislation.

  • Massive Unemployment: June 2009 Edition [View article]
    Mr Obama:

Instead of micromanaging the Cambridge Mass Police department, why don't you do something important like creating some REAL jobs? I see unemployment has ramped up over 3.4 MILLION since you took office some 5 months ago. So, how about those 5 MILLION jobs you promised us??

  • Is Goldman Starting to Offload Its Prop Positions? [View article]
ValueInvestor said, "This is the problem. Instead of actually trying to fix things, people like you just want to hang on for the ride. Where are your morals?"

I am well aware of Goldman's unique position between the markets and the Fed and Treasury. So what! Not many other assets have near/better-than doubled in the last year like Goldman. FWIW, over time, I have also invested in tobacco, gun makers, and alcohol. and if I could find a vehicle, I would invest in prostitution. Investing isn't a game. I put money where it will appreciate.

all you skeptics and leeries just need to buy GS and stop worrying about rigged markets. If you had started last year, with tight stops you would now be sitting on a double (or better)

zabazabagerb... don't you mean the debt we are GATHERING WILL TAKE YEARS to pay due for the incompetance of THIS government?

This "administration" and "congress" will drive the US economy so deep into the ground with their utterly bankrupt policies, that it will take decades to even think about recovery. WE ARE DESTINED TO BECOME A THIRD WORLD NATION.

    Thanks Kurt..

I have been saying exactly that with respect to the fossil fuel energy...

in california, when you ask people about developing this resource, the response is usually, "NIMBY". whereas in TEXAS, it is "That is the smell of money"

  • Thoughts On Today's Job Numbers: Rahm, the Economy Is Not a Giant Investment Bank [View article]
'Socialism cannot compete' said, ".. Our federal government needs DRASTIC downsizing. It should only be performing a few functions anyway -- it is SO far from what was Constitutionally designated to it.."

and if left unchanged, the 'gubmint' will continue to move leftwards and grow ever larger, and more controlling of all our lives too. How do we, who care about freedoms and choices, stop this encroachment? I personally believe that the battle was lost when we let the NEA setup shop in all public schools decades ago and serve up leftist idealogy, and revisionist history to suit their agenda, to the future parents, workers, (and now) leaders of our country.

  • Windows 7: Now It's an Economic Savior Too [View article]
..and I'll bet you that W7 will fall flat on their collective face as bad or worse than Vista did. M$ is a dying skeleton of their past greatness. They absolutely suck at OS design and maintenance. Their best developers have mostly moved on; they innovate NOTHING: they simply plagarize and let their lawyer machine handle the patent violations; or buy new concepts from smaller firms who have some vision.

  • Best Buy Reaction Could Reflect Sentiment Change [View article]
BB is beating a dead horse: walk-in sales traffic. More and more people are shopping over the Internet due to better prices, free shipping, better selection. And, the Internet sales can skip past most state sales tax collections. (they can in my state) More knowledgeable consumers scan the Internet warehouses (Amazon, Newegg, etc.), plan their purchases, and sit back comfortably at home waiting for Big Brown to roll up to the front door and unload their packages.

  • Less Buying at Best Buy [View article]
The biggest threat to BB is their model: bricks and mortar. That is a big expense anchor to lug around when others like Amazon, Newegg, etc. just run huge warehouses and slick database-driven websites. I know: BB has a website too. But it is clumsy and yet primitive compared to the former two. As walk-in traffic dwindles and impulse-driven spenders recede, the web-based models with their better prices, will continue to eat into BB's market share.
