  • America Is Creating Green Energy Jobs...in China [View article]
    Mr. Mark:

"However we are not allowed to have an industrial policy in the U.S. because to do so would make us "socialist" - like those darn Germans."

No, it's not quite like that. We have a government of enumerated powers and so far those powers don't include an industrial policy. It's true at times our structure is a little clunky and not as efficient as those go-go places like China. It's curious that you bring up Germany as the national socialists there were nortoriously efficient, so it seems that prudence requires at times that we sacrifice some efficiency to gain a measure of safety against the day when the industrial plan requires the liquidation of the wreckers.

  • WSJ: Most Jobs for Chinese Wind Farm in Texas to Go to China [View article]
This was a lively article by Greentechmedia.

"In other words, Chinese companies will be involved in the sort of higher-value services that white-collar America craves."

White collar America (I'll include myself in that bunch) craves White Castle hamburgers, not "higher value services."

  • China Kicks off Renewable Energy Drive with Wind Farms [View article]
This story warms my heart. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Chinese elites bought the "renewable" energy stew and started serving it up.

In what sense is a wind turbine consuming steel, concrete, aluminum and copper "renewable." In what sense is it "cutting edge?" The Dutch used windpower centuries ago.

Free market decisions based on profit produce the most efficient and clean energy choices. Government mandates that "17 percent of electricity needs to be generated by..."

How long before we are hearing that the far-sighted Chinese are leading the world towards the goal of reducing global warming?
Maybe the short-sighted T. Boone can find a way to off-load a lot of turbines to the Chinese.

  • Chinese Stock Market Bottoms: What Should U.S. Investors Do? [View article]
Yeah, you've got to hand it to those Chinese Communists. They're so much more efficient in producing a stimulus package than we are with our clunky old democracy. Still, why do the wonders of the world need a stimulus package at all? What will those communists do when a great mob descends on them and demands some say in how they are governed?
