  • General Electric Just Inked Its Largest Wind Deal Ever With China [View article]
Could we also see a few specifics:
    Total rated capacity
    Expected annual output, in MWH
Will GE receive any US tax credits; the $22/mwh which would be applicable were the installation within the United States.
Cost, of both original units and expected annual maintenance.
    Fair-market value of output.
    Expected useful life of units.
Will there be any form of "energy storage"; either batteries or pumping water uphill?

  • Cash-strapped LDK Solar (LDK +8.8%) jumps after scoring a $69.8M loan from China Development Bank to finance an upgrade to a polysilicon plant. The news comes a week after LDK announced it's selling a 12.1% stake to peer Funai Investment. Meanwhile, Suntech (STP +4.4%) announces it has completed a 3.5MW Saudi project, and First Solar (FSLR +0.1%) discloses it has bought a 50MW project based in Luna County, NM and set to be finished in 2014. [View news story]
Is there any possible way to obtain "little things" such as:
    A. Cost to construct the 50MW facility.
    B. Expected actual annual output from same.
    C. Price per MWH to be paid by El Paso Power.

Specifically why was it better to install solar, as opposed to wind, at Greenough river? Solar costs some $5/watt; wind--extrapolating from Shepherd's flats--costs more like $2/watt.

Appears that output is going to support desalinization; unreliability is not a major concern.

  • The Dirty Truth About Clean Energy [View article]
What is known about the value of solar installations--either thermal or PV--in reducing air-conditioning load below large roof areas?

It "seems logical" that, if we convert at least some received solar energy to electricity, that its heating effect upon occupied spaces below the roof would be decreased.
