I keep hearing about the possibility of 4th qtr maybe not as good as thought and COH might suffer. Please correct me if I'm wrong..Didn't Mel at the Dec 18th meeting re-assure numbers were on track for 4th qtr. They track churn, subs, and other numbers daily/weekly. Do you really think that the numbers could tank that bad in about 2 weeks time? I still believe 4th qtr will be at estimates or above. Your thoughts!!!!

"Sirius XM Radio Inc. Chief Executive Mel Karmazin is scrambling to raise about $175 million by Feb. 17 to fend off the company's bankruptcy and a possible takeover threat from EchoStar Corp."

Screw these a-holes..fend off the company's BK.. News to me..didn't know that they had already filed. WSJ sucks. Hope they BK like NY Times will soon be!

Just noting what was said in WSJ article. something about bank debt traded thinly on OTC. I honestly do not know enough about bank debt/bonds. Thats why I try to glean information for the knowledgable posters. thanks for your input

The part that concerns me is the possible purchase of May bank debt as alluded to in WSJ article. I know that they were just speculating on that one, but if true, could be big problem. If Mel uses 1/2 COH for Feb debt, then possible not enough COH if ECHO has accumulated significant portion of May debt and will not renegotiate!

I think the loss of subs would 25% or more depending on how it is handled. That would seriously cripple Sirius and possible Echostar. They are not rolling in the dough right about now.

But with BK, wouldn't the mutiny from shareholders/subscribe... cause increased hardship on the company. sure they would have less debt, but with a mass exodus of subs, wouldn't that ultimately destroy Sirius..Then what would they have gained?

I believe that they cannot buy or sell this close to the qtr report. Might end up like Martha and be accused like Mark Cuban. I think it is something like 45 days before reporting. Could be wrong.

Are you aware that your FREE internet feed was costing the company money??? They had to pay royalty fees at a higher rate than Sat/Rad. Why not inhance your FRIENDS listening experience by making him pay you for the $3 internet feed (outstanding 128kb feed) or get his own damn sub.
