I traded forex since March 2009 with IBFX. On hindsight, it was more difficult than I anticipated. I realized that trading forex is not the quick path to riches. It requires patience, skill and the willingness to not chase after trades that have moved. It requires self-control to position for the next wave. I trade in small size. On May 2012, I finally reached a milestone of not losing money. Within 90 days of depositing the AUD$100, I was able to refund the money back to my funding account.
I have a passion for finance. I aspire to be a hedge fund manager but I have found no traction so far in Singapore. This is largely because I am about to graduate from a 2nd Tier School and all the plum jobs are going to ...More students that graduated from the 1st Tier School. As I am not trading in size and my trading profits are uncertain, I am about to settle for an operations role at a brokerage in Singapore for the sake of personal solvency and to start building up my savings. Interestingly I am going to settle leveraged FX amongst other securities product in my line of work as I am told in my interview. The pay is low and the only silver lining for me is that I can learn about a variety of securities product from behind the scenes.
However I have not given up on my dreams of becoming a fund manager. The closest that I came was the internship in a sizable local mutual fund house in Singapore. I was basically told that being a fund manager is out of my league. Still I am looking out for opportunities to be a hedge fund manager. The kind that analyses global economic conditions and make the decisions to invest and reaps the fruits of his investment decisions. This is the goal that I aspire to be and the drive behind my efforts so far. If there is anyone that can point me in the right directions, I would be honoured to take it and would really appreciate it. Thanks.
