  • 3 Signs Apple Is Topping [View article]
This is hindsight, but I note the 40 point drop today. Always bad to be an ideologue.

  • Chevron, A Dividend Champion In Trouble: What Is The Impact Of The Ecuadorian Judgment? [View article]
A great article. But if compared to the BP debacle it seems doable to pay and continue along, although I don't know the relative size of each company when the bill came due/will come due.

Agree, there will be no fiscal cliff. And, the day before this is realized would be a good day to be heavily invested in stocks.

You must be kidding. The Republicans threw concrete in the sandbox. Can you really stand Boerner (if I mispelled his name, it's just I can't stand to write it out) and Eric what's-his-name?

  • UPS: How Well Can Brown Deliver For Investors? [View article]
I have to get this out of my mind. Who chose "brown" as the logo color, forget the truck color.
I know white is virginity, black is evil, red is sexy, and brown is.....?
    You get the point, hopefully.

  • Are You Better Off Than You Were 4 Years Ago? [View article]
This president was good for me; I fear Romney and what he will do against women, either directly or via appointments to the Supreme Court. The latter could set us back 30 years for the next 30 years.

    >>Paul,
In bashing Obama you, and many others, fail to mention the obstruction of the Republican party this last two years. Lincoln would have lost the Civil War if he had to face such opposition.
Yes, Obama had the Dems his first two years, and we got national health care (if you don't like it you haven't been seriously sick yet); after the Repubs took the house, their only goal was to defeat Obama, they didn't care about the country or it's needs.

Right, get rid of those onerous $8 or so minimum wage laws. Allow the corporations to hire many more workers at $4 or so! Bring down the unemployment rate in doing so! Labor laws: forget them. You want a job, take your chances, forget about basic protections.
For sure, this is what our country needs--not.

    >>Paul Nathan,
Let everyone drop this nonsense that Romney worked well with the overwhelming Democratic legislatures in Boston and should be credited with leadership because he accomplished so much. Let's be clear: Romney accomplished only what the Democrats wanted to accomplish; the majority was so veto-proof that Romney had no choice but to accept whatever the Democrats wanted. The same with his proposals; if the Democrats wanted them, fine. If not, forget it. Mickey Mouse could have been governor and accomplished what Romney accomplished, to the exact letter.
In reality, Romney was a follower as governor, not a leader.
Take it from a MASS resident.

    >>JoeNatural,
You are the first writer in this long list to question voting for Obama. Perhaps your view is the only correct one out of all those preceding, but don't you dare question my intelligence because I plan to vote for Obama. The present Republican party is so anti the Republican party I grew up with, I cannot recognize it nor trust it. Can you truly support anyone who takes Norquist's pledge (where in the world did this guy come from, what is he an expert in?) and who refuses to give back one dollar for every ten dollars given him?
Give me this deal anytime! I hope Romney/Ryan get slammed forcefully enough to rid the party of these extreme right-wing ideologues.

  • How To Position For President Obama's Second Term [View article]
    >>Orangemike,
I actually understand some of the points you bring up, and surprisingly, for you, agree in principal with you. This is because I think I am beginning to understand your overall philosophy.
I don't think you and I and the other thoughtful writers to SA are going to solve global warming or many of the other topics which motivate us to write. When it comes to government and/or money we each have our own right/wrong ideas.
But I enjoy reading from intelligent writers comments that tell me I am wrong, and why. Then, as a debate should be, I can reply and let them know why they are wrong.
So, I have enjoyed this give and take with you. Hopefully I can show my grand kids I was the right one, after all. Since we have been at this since Sept. 10, I believe I am going to sign off on this site. More debate at other articles, I am sure!

  • This Popular Government-Backed Income Investment Is Worthless [View article]

Why? I would prefer any money in an IRA to be invested in a company giving me a 4% dividend every year, plus possible appreciation.
TIP in an IRA? Please explain your reasoning, in an IRA versus not in one.

    >>ArtfulDodger,
I compliment you on the presentation of all this info. It must have taken some time to write. Unfortunately, the facts show that the great, great majority of scientists do not agree with the opinions of those you are presenting. Of course, there are always those who disagree with anything. In the case of global warming, I must go with the 99% who say it is real. It's not a "lefty" thing, it's a science thing.
(Please note I have replied in a polite manner, no cute, not-really-humorous phrases or words which you seem stuck on. It really detracts from any points you are trying to make).
