Commodities Rallying: A Good Indicator of Global Growth [View article]
Commodities rally in my view means exactly how little trust people have on equities. Monetary base has increased several folds since 1999. After the brief credit deflation that we've seen, monetary base continue to increase. And those money has to find a refuge. In equity? To risky already to bet on future EPS increases. On corporate bonds? - maybe, but interest rates are poised to jump so it might be risky. So what is left? Only governemnt bonds and commodities. In governemnts bonds we have a dual problem of too low interest rates and the posibility of interest rates jumping. So the commodities are increasing not because there is anyting special with them (demand or alike) but rather because meony don't have where to go elsewhere.
Redux: Future S&P Returns Could Be Extraordinary [View article]
If 6.5% over the next 2 years can be called Extraordinary - then yes. I won't even say what the return will be over the next 5 years - Let me just say that will be negative.
Transport Sector Confirms Economic Weakness [View article]
Let's stop the bearish comments. Transportattion looks in rebounding phase to me. Oh, and those whatching the equities - don't be hang up on prices - that is called Anchoring and has nothing to do with Fundamentals
ETF Market Trends: Bears Emerge from Hibernation in Oversold Market [View article]
Yes - and the bears will be squeezed by the end of the next week. This is a cyclical BULL market alright, and there are no signs of a serious correction in the next 2 years. Those who are looking to short the market here I am advising to be VERY quick in exiting the short.
Natural Gas Has Spiked 60% Since Labor Day. Why? [View article]
Where is everybody that I was fighting with when the NG was $2.50? Where are those short sellers? Hey! Anyone around? I made plenty of many in 8 weeks. From $2.50 to over $5. What happened with your theory Dian?
Russia never found its place next to BIC. And, although the Russian markets grew the most during the last 10 year (or maybe exactlly that's why) I am not a big fun of Russia not of other investments there. There are too many good countries out there to consider Russia. Maybe I like too much Dostoyevsky but I do NOT believe in Russia.
Three Asset Classes that Can Actually Outpace Coming Inflationary Price Increases [View article]
Paco, this is a VERY good article. Because it summarizes my believes? Maybe. I am also long Gold, Silver, TIPS and foreign governments inflation protected bonds, energy and mining stocks and selected High-Yield bonds. And, in the same time, I am short US equity market (except the mentioned longs), short government bonds, short selected High-Grade. The bond market is the most interesting because, funny enough and due to the bad allocation of risk grades by Moody's and the rest, offers better opportunities.
Some Cracks in the Bull Market's Foundation [View article]
This types of "flattenings" are normal after period of surges from the bottom. Check the history. I wouldn't be surprised if for the next 3-4 months the American markets will go nowhere. But I would certainly be surprised to see them down more then 3%.
