  • Top 5 Gold Stocks For 2014, Part II [View article]
Yes, and I think from their 3rd Quarter 2013 report, they have the ability to increase Silver production/sales, so there is room for a stream.

"Our average silver ounces to gold ounces sold ratios for the third quarter and first nine months of 2013 were approximately 3.5:1 and 4.2:1, respectively, which we expect to increase to over 6.0:1 during the fourth quarter when solution is primarily processed through the new Merrill-Crowe plant. The new Merrill-Crowe plant began processing approximately 7,000 gpm of solution in mid-October and by the end of October was fully commissioned and capable of processing solution at its nameplate capacity of 21,500 gpm."

ANV is also trading below book value of around $7/share.

P/E is quite low, especially when you compare it to the average of the Dow Jones as a whole.

Hopefully the press they received from the what looks like fake offer of $7.50/share buyout will spark new investor interest.

Also the Institutional ownership is solid at ~75%

Shares still trade below book value.

You would think that with the recent news of a soon to be solid Q3 and the coming increase to the US Debt Celing should provide further upside.

  • A Trip Down Memory Lane With BlackBerry [View article]
    Nice article - thank Tom.

It will be interesting to see how many BBM installs take place on Apple and Android between now and Friday Earnings. If the number is high enough, maybe Blackberry can provide a late remotely positive talking point during the call. However Apple/Android users are only getting half the functionality of BBM since there will be no voice or screen share or video in the version available to them.

  • Buy Blackberry, Even If No One Bids On It [View article]
George - Always appreciate your contributions to SA.

Just wondering what your thoughts are on BBM being a part that Blackberry could do away with. You had touched on other parts and why they didn't make sense to have parted out to be sold but you didn't mention anything about the BBM messaging and why it would or wouldn't make sense to sell off on it's own.

  • Memo To BlackBerry Bulls: You People Are Dead Wrong [View article]
$13 seems about the price also for the institutions that added substantially to their positions in the June 30,2013 13-F filing.

If these institutions were just buying @$13/share rough average just to provide shares to be shorted, then you would think that short interest would increase. But after the June 28, 2013 short interest update, short interest has been on the decline.

I know others might have commented on the institutions adding to positions in other Blackberry articles but thought i should reiterate considering what your in at as an average (identical to some major institutions).

  • BlackBerry Is Worth $15 Dead Or Alive [View article]
Also looking at the stretch of March-May 2013 which is probably the time period that the June 30, 2013 update is based on, the Nasdaq share price was mostly above $13/share.

So the major institutions adding to their positions would have done so probably around $13/share. This is a good $2+ above what current price is.

I really do hope EPS for June28th reporting will be double digit cents. The breakeven guidance that Heins provided last quarter is somewhat of a relief as he would have only made that statement on conservative sales estimates.

    Here's hoping for $.20+ EPS

"ALT 12 Capital" could be Atlanta Capital which is a subsidiary of Eaton Vance Corp.

The City abbreviation for Atlanta is ALT.

Had "ALT 12 Capital" purchased their BBRY shares prior to March 31,2013 then they would have shown up in the 13-F form and listed here However in 15 pages of looking at the institution list, I could not see them with holding any shares.

April 11,2013 there did seem to high volume on that day, 79+ million shares traded. April01-June01 share price closes of no less than $13.50. It would be assumed that ATL 12 Capital purchased their shares above $13 on average.

  • But, But BlackBerry Was Dead [View article]
Please have a look at what "Second World" country is actually defined as

Please note also from Wikipedia, "...the concept of "Second World" was a construct of the Cold War and the term has largely fallen out of use since the revolutions of 1989"

Wouldn't want you to use that out of context in case you do happen to visit some place in Canada - Eh

At about the 2 minute mark of this video you can see the word prediction in action on the Q10 Of course it is more fluid when you are using 2 thumbs and actually holding the phone versus having it stuck on a base, as is the case with the Youtube user from the video.

When using the touch screen to select a word that was predicted, you just touch the screen above the keyboard where the word suggestions are located. Since the word suggestions are so close to the keyboard either of your thumbs can reach the screen to select the word and then you can continue typing on the keyboard - it is fluid. I find that I pay more attention to the keyword suggestions just to minimize on clicking on the keyboard. There is a big difference in keystrokes as I find I am typing about half as much as I used to (it'll get better as the phone figures out how i write).

I am a Blackberry Bull but Q1 cutoff is June01,2013 and since the U.S launch has been delayed for the Q10 phone from late May to first week of June, this will mean basically zero sales from the U.S of of these phones for the reporting period. This means we have to wait till Q2 to know the full effects of the pent-up demand of the new qwerty phone for U.S sales. Heins did provide guidance last quarter as to a positive earnings quarter for Q1 but I think it will be in the $.15 to $.30 range. It will still be decently better than what Analysts are predicting.

On a side note I did buy the Q10 phone a few days after release in Canada and it is AWESOME! I charge the phone every 2nd day versus everyday. Word suggestions on the touch screen above the keyboard help big time for avoding typing out long words. I don't miss the trackpad either from the Bold 9900.

  • Verizon, Short-Sellers Show Strong BlackBerry Interest; Shares Tough To Borrow [View article]
Good to see institutions adding to their Blackberry positions in the recent 13-F filing for the period ending March 31,2013.

APG ALL PENSIONS GROUP NV = +5,027,061
    BMO FINANCIAL CORP = +71,359
    MEDITOR GROUP LTD = +3,170,000 (100% new)
    OXFORD ASSET MANAGEMENT = +2,627,076 (100% new)
    MORGAN STANLEY = +1,539,970
BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA = +699,029
    UBS AG = +921,514

Notice how there were 2 brand new institutions who put in a decent number of shares into Blackberry in this recent filing. And BMO Financial already on the BES10 train.
