I agree with both points. The incremental second guessing seems too often to be an excuse for inactivity.

I think there is a third point you could add regarding Monday morning quaterbacking. Too many people are saying "We should have..." or "We should not have...". I liken the situation to something that happened to me this past summer. I walked out one morning to jump in the car and go to work. I noticed that I had two flat tires (front and rear on one side). I took it in to a mechanic. He talked me into 4 new tires due to the mileage and excessive wear on the tires. I dropped several hundred dollars on the new tires. It was about a month later that my transmission failed and there were a few smaller issues the mechanic discovered. The cost of the repairs was too much to justify so I decided to get a new car. When I told my wife, she said, "Then why did you get four new tires just a month ago." I had nothing to say to that....I dont even understand that line of thinking. Certainly I would do things differently knowing what I know now if given the choice, but that is not an option available to me or anyone else stuck in the time continuim.
Jeff, typically I stay quiet but I wanted to let you know that you continue to impress me with your well thought out posts. You are certainly one of the few even-keeled individuals blogging about what is going on. I appreciate and so do many readers that remain quiet. Please keep up the good work!
